a different TL vs g35 question

I know that this is a much-asked question here, but which is better, TL or G35 (both 2005)? I've read through the hundreds of previous posts on this matter, so I won't ask for a comparison between the 2. I already know for myself the pros and cons of each car. My question is although that I like both cars equally (maybe a lil toward TL for styling), is the risk of having a TL with vibration problems worth taking? I know the vibration problems don't happen to everyone, but the problems also are intermittent, meaning it can't be discovered on just a test drive of the car prior to purchase. It seems that a $30000+ car shouldn't have this many vibration issues, especially on a second year car. Is this a risk worth taking?

The TL is a great car but I just can't get past the the Front wheel drive platform. If it was rear wheel drive I would have probably bought one.

I absolutely love my TL, I think the 4 dr G is really ugly, but if you go for the coupe and get a 6 speed, you'll have almost 300 rear wheel driven horsepower...hard to pass that up

Also, if you troll the G35 forums, you will find that they have their own problems.

ok, then let me ask this...

Are the vibrations bad enough for you to regret the purchase of your TL?

I think if your 35K car vibrated you would be sufficiently pissed.

Best advice I can give you is test drive them both a few times and decide which one is the best for you. Both cars have the pro's and con's no car is perfect.

downunder, like I said earlier, I've read lots of incidents where the vibration wasn't initially detected at the test drive, but surfaced many miles later. Again, my question: If there isn't anyway to confidentally test the car for vibrations, then is the risk of getting one of these vib. problems worth the hassle? Granted, no car is perfect, I can live fine with a few rattles, butt prints, dents, whatever. Those are all cosmetic. But having a vibration in the drivetrain or somewhere else mechanical is a big problem for me.

The only vibration problem that I have is in the first 5-10 minutes of driving due to the stupid tires flat spotting. Other than that, my TL drives very smooth. There is some road feel through the steering wheel, but that's a good thing in my opinion.

My recommendation is to test drive the TL and take it for a decent drive in all types of conditions (smooth roads, rough roads, back roads, highway, etc). Chances are, you'd be able to feel a vibration with a long enough trip. Then, if you do decide on the TL, make sure you take "your" car for a good long test drive before signing the papers to make sure that car doesn't have vibrations either.

The 4 door sedan for 2005 looks great. It doesnt have the black crap under the front and rear bumpers as well as the sideskirts. The tailights look better too. I used to think the g sedan was ugly, but now it vastly improved. The G has some problems..but nothing major at all. You can see that on g35driver.com
