I paid $41,800. OTD. I am in the midst of searching for an extended warranty program via BMW. Every dealer has a different price, with varied coverage terms. It's a P.I.T.A...

How expensive is the extended warranty program?

Awesome! I would love to pick one of these a few years down the road; the price drop on some has been really affordable.
Enjoy.
Enjoy.

Warranties seem to range from $2,800 - $4,600 depending on existing mileage, and the mileage terms and years of the warranty time period you want to purchase.
I have the remaining factory warranty until 1/15/2012 or 50k miles.

I had a similar experience in LA.
I pull up to a red light and what slides in next to me? White BMW M6 convertible with some amazing looking 20" black wheels. I nudge my buddy and say, "damn, look at that M6 man .. and the chick driving it too".
She pulls away .. and sure enough I hear her changing through gears .. I nearly went to heaven.
Congrats on the M5 6 speed, what an amazing looking and performing machine.

I haven't noticed many E60 M5's rolling around the area (DC Metro) previous to owning the car, and now during ownership.
One thing I have noticed; other M-Car owners tend to wave or give a while on the road. But, I have seen a hand full of "Tasty" women rollin' around in M3 Verts and coupes.
I don't intend to modify the car, until I am out of the extended warranty period. I don't want to give BMW any reason to deny a claim, because I will blow a gasket and back-hand someone if a claim is denied on an un-modified M5, so upgrades will be in the far, far distant future.
Thanks for the props on the car.
