Haha. He doesn't detail for a living, he's an investment banker. He details on weekends, which explains why he is booking into August. If you think you can afford an M3 and M5 on with a detailing career all I can say is good fucking luck.

^ If you owned a business and had 4 or 5 crews working for you? I bet you could.

I know you could; the thing with that is no one is posting pictures of their work on forums, because generally the quality isn't nearly as good. It's a catch 22. If you want to make a car perfect you need to do it yourself or have someone else with a controlling interest in the business do it. If you want to get super uber rich then you need to run shops/crews, which means your quality control is a lot tougher to keep an eye on.

Sure you can make good money detailing, but it isn't one of those professions on the top of the "get rich fast" list.

Not true. I would love to post more pictures on the various forums I am on, but would get sighted for "advertising"

Another I did for Bimmerfest

It is true. I didn't say *all* shops were no good. I said "generally the quality isn't as good". Anyone in the industry knows that there are definitely awesome shops, but to run 5 crews *and* have top notch quality is really, really tough. I am sure if you do this for a living you know how hard it is to find employees that will do as good a job as you with no vested interest in the company. If you're on site with them all the time you can make sure they do what they need to, but like I said, it's tough.

I just do it on the side as I am full time in school. It really is the type of business though that will never be as good if "you" yourself are not doing it alone.

What an amazing job on the Benz, I wonder how much that guy charges per detail.

I think we misunderstood eachother haha. We're agreeing. I said no one is posting "shop pictures" because shops generally aren't as good as owner only detailers (which I think is what you're saying). I know it is hard to say that guys like you, me, fminus etc produce better quality as a whole than shops, but when it's just you quality control is easy. When it's 25 guys, not so much.

LOL. Yeah, I was only referring to why I don't post my pics on more forums. You're absolutely 100% correct.

Probably at least $400-500 for the man hours needed for a "real" detail. Although this job here was probably an all out effort, time be damned.

$500 is a reasonable estimate for that.

I would say that is a conservative estimate.
