^ depending on what they/you are looking for. Especially in Ontario, there seems to be a few examples of m35's at Infiniti/Nissan dealerships on trader.ca. Prices start from 26000 and go up from there for 06's, although they are all a little higher mileage, maybe worth a look tho, depending on how far away you are. Now would be the best time to look at 06s tho as some should be getting returned from their leases.
good luck with the search and keep us updated. Also if you test drive an M i would be interested to hear what you think of them, i personally haven't test driven one yet as there's not too many for sale in Manitoba

What's the reason for audi and lexus being off the list? Just don't like 'em? Price?

used could be a very good option. Do you, or anyone else, know when they changed the gauges in the M from the ugly orange to the white/blue they have now??????

Lexus I already explained,.....IS has no back seats and their pkgs are ridiculously priced. Look at it at the autoshow this past weekend, and was just kinda feeling meh about it now anyway. GS, although a nice vehicle, is getting up there $$$ wise, and it just doesnt do anything for us.

Audi - Not really feeling the new A4, A6 too much $$$ (starts at 62k up here), and my dad has an aversion to Audi for whatever reason.

Going to the autoshow AGAIN this weekend, so I can get another good look at the contenders before we start test drives. Yes, I sometimes get two day passes to the autoshow. I need help haha.

You're dad should read some of the comments in this thread:

https://acurazine.com/forums/automotive-news-6/audi-sales-marketing-financial-news-710715/

Esp, Posts #20,35,38 and a few others.

It's very unfortunate that the older generation has this set mindset that Audi is always bad. With how much the guys over at the audi boards modify their cars you'd think they'd be the first to be complaining about how bad these cars are since they push them harder then the normal guy, but they are running surprisingly very strong even with all the mods added to them.

^they changed it for the 08 models, they also changed a few key features which make the cars a lot better, so if they can afford it
following added features for 08:
-rain sensing wipers
-touch screen navigation(still can be used via the controller or voice activation)
-different colors taken from the g35
-differently styled 18" wheels
-redisgned front and rear fascias (they look a bit nicer and not that chunky looking anymore IMO)

i think that's all the things that were changed, and i think the orange lighting does look a little weird on the guages, but all the lights on the dash looked pretty god together IMO, i'll try and find a pic for you

Well my dad is open to anything (as am I), but the new A4 doesnt really float our boat.

He is apprehensive mostly because when we have looked at Audi in the past, the "deals" were not really good at all,...consistently. He would consider an Audi if I ran the numbers and they looked good, but what is the point if nothing really interests us right now? I also like to compare features,...and for the same money as the 2.0T you can get a G37 with way more power and more toys. The value angle is always considered, and usually Audi doesn't stand up.

Has he considered an imported american car or does he want a strictly canadian car? It could be something to think about as several members, myself included have gone south to book a good deal.

Agreed, it was really best to buy last year when the loonie was higher, but I was throwing it out there as a viable option.

As far as value go, I think it's tough to beat the G37 especially comparing it to the other cars in your price range.

Thought about it over the last year or two on and off. Could be an option. I actually totally forgot about that, so I am glad you brought it up.

Edit: I see you guys said it isnt really worth it anymore though.

The CC was nice, but the back isnt that useful because of the roofline.

I was thinking about that earlier today.

appreciate everyone's input btw. Hopefully I am well enough (coming down with the flu I think) to get back to the autoshow this weekend again to compare vehicles. I'll take a hard look at the BASE A4's they had there just for Moog.

Ok, I don't really have time right now to type out all of the stuff we have checked out over the last few weeks,...........but I need opinions ASAP!!!!!!!!!!!

PLEASE HELP US MAKE A SMART DECISION

Choice number 1 - 2009 BMW 328i w premium and wood,..........nothing fancy, but a fantastic car.

Choice number 2 - 2003 M5 with ~70k on it,.........car is amazing, but a bit impractical.

We cant make up our mind. We decided to just go for it on the M5, but now we are having second thoughts. A 6 yr old car that could end up being costly if something went wrong, and we wouldn't keep it that long. It would be drive it, enjoy it, dump it type of deal in a year, maybe two. We basically need to act on it, cause I am sure it will disappear cause someone else will surely buy it if we dont. Also, things like tires etc will not be cheap.

Price difference is about 6k, with the M5 being the cheaper option.

WHAT DO WE DO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so stressed out.

All thoughts/ideas etc greatly appreciated.

Option 3?
You guys are nuts, and should get something else!!!

Extra info I forgot,...

If we get a new 3er, we would probably just lease it for 3 - 4 yrs. Is it totally insane to even consider driving an M5 in the winter????

If you get the '09 328, do you plan to get rid of it in a year as well?

I wish we didn't drive the M5. I knew we would LOVE it. Things I worry about in terms of getting the M5,...

- Something big goes on it = $$$$$
- stuff like tires = $$$$, but we would not hold onto the car for a long period of time,...so
- It is 6 yrs old, but everything seemed in pretty good nick,......did we miss something?
- It not not practical as a DD realistically,.........but enjoying a car like that for a little while is HARD to pass up.
- Gas mileage = FAIL

Everything else aside, if it's not practical for what you need it for, I don't see the point....BMW or not.

Dont mind car shopping again soon, but it is just an opportunity like this wont come along again. Even if it did,...we would not be getting something like that. It is kind of like,.....buy it, or you wont ever get anything like this.

Sure, I will have money to buy a sweet car like this sometime in the future (I hope), but I wouldnt buy a car of this age when that time comes,...and I wouldnt want the newer M5.

MY dad is really torn. Last night we were both M5 ,.....but now we are having second thoughts haha.

Good point, it is a big silly to drive something like that in the winter I suppose. In terms of size, seats, etc etc etc,.....it meets all of our needs. It's loaded to the eyeballs anyway. It was as easy to drive as the TSX really, so it would not be a sacrifice in any depts.

Perhaps it is more of a question of sanity for buying something like that. 400hp is overkill in any situation unless you are on a track etc.

I am worried about both my dad and myself having a great deal of regret NOT jumping on in. The flip side of course, is that you could regret getting it,..and always think,...should have just picked up a 3 series, or whatever else.

Once we got a chance to drive some BMW's we were pretty much sold. I'll give details about other stuff later when I have time to type up reviews etc.

We even looked at 7 series, but they are too wide for the driveway. The mirrors would literally scrape the sides of the houses,....and folded there is just too little room for error. We are good, but not THAT good.
