Dealer f'd up sticker
Took the RDX in today for regular maintenance. Went by the wifes work to pick her up for lunch, and noticed the inspection sticker was all mauled. It looks like someone tried to take it off, then put it right back on, its all shredded looking. I'll take a pic when she gets off work and post it. When I got there there was another RDX same tech package, color etc. Maybe the "mechanic" got them mixed up and the other one was getting a new inspection and he started yanking my sticker off by mistake?
I called the service rep and she says "we definitely wouldn't have done that" I say, "I washed the car yesterday and would have noticed it while detailing the dash". Im going back tomorrow we'll see how this pans out. Just irritating that I have to waste time tomorrow getting this handled.

NC still has annual state inspections but no inspection stickers. They did away with them about 2 years ago. You have to have the vehicle inspected before you can renew the registration each year.

the only winners are states that have neither.
also, we don't need front plates..
we can go completely catless on our cars.
yet...
we cant buy liquor after 9 and the liquor stores are closed on SUndays.
and we cant have a clean looking windshield due to this damn inspection sticker.GRRR
Not too familiar with inspection stickers, but did a little research and glad we don't have to go through that here ( although our emissions sucks). I can understand emissions checks, but checking the easily fixable items like blinker lights and windshield wipers seems like a waste of time. I would hope the owner of the car wouldn't need an official safety check to know to fix these items if they were to go bad. But, maybe I am giving people too much credit.
There is no CARB police running around.
If you want to run illegal parts on your ride, do so...but at least in Kalifornia you could potentially go for the life of the car and never get caught versus getting inspected every year.
<----have not run a front plate on my cars since 1995
What's to worry about CARB laws?

How do you even modify your car if you have to go through an inspection every year? Put it back to stock each time?
they don't inspect modification parts at all.
it's basically an inspection for a CEL and to make sure all signals/lights work.
it's not a hassle as much as it is a safety precaution.
keeps the hazardous vehicles off the road (for the most part)

Mine is currently taped on with scotch tape because I had to get a new windshield a couple weeks ago. Safelite transferred the registration sticker and safety inspection sticker, but the registration sticker won't stay on by itself now. Rather annoying to look at.
I have yet to swerve out of the way of a hazardous vehicle on the road where I thought to myself "that thing should be inspected and removed from the road!"
and
to not getting approved for inspection if you have a CEL?!?!?That's nuts!
it can have a civic body, with TL motor.. dumped on it's nuts, with cutoff exhaust running no cat.. and if it's not throwing a CEL.. it's good to go.
OBD1 vehicles don't even abide by the CEL rule.

At least ours aren't in the middle of the windshield like some states.
For who ever said people should know to change their broken tailights/blinkers/headlights, you must live in a state with very observant, intelligent, and road knowledgable people b/c we sure don't.
We are lucky if the person driving next to you knows of the difference between DRLs and highbeams. Oh, and forget about slow traffic moving to the right and things like that.

haha unfortunately they plug up a code reader to your obd2 port.
if it throws a code, they'll know if your light is sposed to be on.
people used to pull the battery to reset it but now they know if youve done it in the last 50 miles.
no getting around a CEL.
of course you can always just pay cash to a windshield shop and they'll give you one no questions asked lol.

Oregon has emissions checks on cars newer than 1974 but it's only every other year except new cars which are good for FOUR years. In other words, my Santa Fe doesn't have to renew or check anything until September, 2014.
No windshield stickers here, either, thank goodness. If you pass emissions, you get your plate tabs which double as emissions OK and renewal paid.
Since my I30 is 11 years old, its had its share of stickers. Plenty of glue all around the current sticker cus the guys at inspection don't give a sh*t of how it goes on as long as it sticks :angryfire. BTW, my aunt actually made fun of us here in Jersey that we still have inspection stickers cus they don't have them in Cali.
Side-story: When I was going for my road test, there was a BMW in front of me. When it was a few minutes until all the guys came out, the guy in front of me pulls out. My dad noticed that his car was brand new, and that there was no sticker in the windshield. So we actually saw the guy go to the side of the building and run the car through. My dad said the daughter must have been bitching and moaning since the line was easily 50+ cars long by the time they left the inspection area, when they were almost first in line.

Over here I have to be inspected every two years. They look at all the lights, brake test it (difference between sides >20%), then they put it on a rack and go all out to find any drips (including water from the A/C). They will fail you for any liquid at all. Plus they "tap" every single exposed bolt to see if any are loose. Plus they look for a CAT. They don't test it, so it could be hollow and they wouldn't care.
And for that pleasure it costs me $150 - 400 as long as nothing is wrong. The price difference is because it might be a dealer doing it or a "shade tree" mechanic. If there are problems, then expect $600 - $1200.
Road Tax is another issue (and sticker). It's roughly $200 a year (because I am with the military). It's a combination weight/vehicle size/engine displacement tax. Paid every year.
