Could this be true? A pair of brand new pre-delivery GT-Rs at the Great Lakes Dragway in Union Grove, WI, USA on the weekend. These cars were still completely covered in interior plastics and are said to have arrived to the drag strip wearing dealer tags.
If it is, surely these can’t be sold to unassuming customers as brand new cars!?
Be careful if you’re buying one of these in Southeastern WI or Northern Illinois/Chicago areas. You will want to verify the delivery mileage as well as general tire condition and so forth.
Thanks to Nick who shot these photos for passing them along to us.

I can already see it:
customer: "why does the one with dark wheels cost more?"
salesman: "because it did 12.5 at the track! the other one only did 13.3"
customer:
maybe they got time slips and put them right next to the window sticker!
or they were making sure the GPS really unleashed a can of whoop ass at tracks

well i just read the comments in gtrblog and apparently both cars were already purchased by the same dood and driven to the track... the salesman from the dealer went in acting like a douche and well, the rest is history!
Does the US version GT-R have a speed limiter to 112-115 mph like it does in Japan? That might explain the terminal speeds at the end of the quarter mile.
I finally saw a GT-R in real life on the freeway today- it is a large car that makes a GNX or a Mercedes E-class look lithe by comparison.

Is it me or do those guys suck at driving? And if those really are unsold cars from the dealership lot, that's pretty scumbaggish of them.
Probably more attributed to the AWD launch.... lower than average ET, but also lower than average trap speed when compared to RWD cars.
And yeah, they're huge! I'll just leave it at that before I incite a flame war/"you're gay because you think the GT-R sucks" bashfest. Oh wait.....

i wouldn't have. it's not my property to "abuse." plus put yourself in the new owners seat would you want a car that the dealership ran the "pee out of" you as a new owner have reasonable expecations. that at the most the car was driven around the dealership lot for final prep(basically take off the stretch wrap), check for any dings, a quick wash, take off any plastic, etc.
bottom line: it was abuse of someone else's property. if the salesmen wanted to pool money to buy 2 GT-R fine. do it . but technically it's the dealerships cars. you gotta respect other people's property.

In my opinion: yes. However if you look in another thread in the GT-R they(Nissan) are putting in "black boxes." meaning records speeds, shift RPMs, hard breaking, basically everything that went on in that car. so if you take that back to the dealership for warrenty work they run the "black box" and they think you've been racing your SOL.
Having worked in high-end dealerships, I can tell you that it is NOT easy to simply take off in a couple of the flagship vehicles without the GM or sales manager decapitating you for it.
From the GTRBlog -
Edit: One of the dealerships in question has contacted GTRBlog to say that this car was in the hands of a customer at the time of the drag meet. It had just been picked up off the lot. The other car is said to be from a different dealership.

No, its just pure speculation. Everyone assumes that these guys just jumped into a couple GT-Rs and hit the track....and I'll assume the opposite; that those cars were already sold or were designated to be demos or whatever.

Of course it's still all speculation, but that still does not make that reply any less moronic.

i'm going to drive a friends GTR this weekend, I am going to get on the car very hard. Since when is doing what the car is capable of, abuse?
BTW, the owner of the car will fully support me in giving it it's all. The cars first 500 miles were on Spring Mountain's track
