A day with a G6

A couple of weeks ago I had a thread about how much I hated the G6.

Well yesterday, I took my car into the BMW dealership to get something looked at. They had a 330i with only 1500 miles ready for me. And then she asked "Are you over 25?"

So, now I'm stuck with the G6 for a few days. Well first of all, it's a better car than the Gallant I got when I got the tranny replced in the CL-S. The pick up isn't bad for such a cheap car, but I expected more from a 3.5L V6. Anyway, the car is really a POS, to say the least. The interior is amazingly teenish. I always hated some of these chrome Pontiac gauges. It makes the GTO interior look like an SL600. I think the exterior is butt ugly too.

I love driving loaners for a few days, it really makes me appreciate my car a lot more.

Pontiac killed the interior. It's terrible for the price! Even the Bland Am was a little better. At least you could see out the back. The G6 has AWFUL rear visibility!!

Oh yeah, one thing I forgot to say, the rearview mirror is HORRIBLE! I think it's made out of alu foil or something.

I agree with your G6 review.
I got one as a rental last weekend, didn't want to put 4000km on my TSX.

Engine - couldn't beleive this was a v6. Acceralation was not nearly as good as I'd hoped. Was very slow to respond to the gas pedal (could have been automatic transmission setup) cruised at about 2000 rpms (seemed really low to me)

Interior - fugly... fake chrome accents and terrible styling. Seating was terrible, really made me appreciate the lumbar support on my TSX

Pros - This thing was good on gas! averaged about 7L/100km (34miles/gallon). The trip computer was nice. Allowed you to see what your average speed was, gas mileage, and how much further you could go with the remaining fuel.

All in all, it was an okay car but not something I would ever consider buying

I would change your BMW dealer if they refused to give you a 330 loaner.

Just my but that is ridiculous.

No, the dealership called enterprise and told them to bring the 330i. Enterprise came with a 330i but then said that they couldn't rent it to me if I'm not 25 or above. I had the same problem with Acura, but Acura didn't want to give me an Acura loaner in first place.

Never seen a dealer that used enterprise. Makes sense now.

But seriously....switch your dealer

Enterprise has 330i rentals? Since when? All they have around here is econo-shitboxes.

No idea, but the chick who drove it over to the BMW dealership wasn't bad looking either.

She said "I have the same problem when I need a loaner, they won't give it to me because I'm not old enough"

I had the same problem when I was under 25. They tried to pull that shit on me and even showed me in the manual where it said so. But the line underneath said it was OK if the driver was over 21 and the registered owner, which I was.

Ask to see it in writing.

Can't wait to get my car back today. The only thing im impressed with is the gas milage. I just put $20 in the tank and it went 3/4 way up. $20 would last me probably a couple of days in the BMW.

why would a bmw dealer use enterprise to loan you a 330i?? i always got a nicer bmw than what I had as a loaner from my bmw dealership. It was usually a demo car.

I have no idea why since I don't work there. And a 330i isn't that bad of a car if you think about it.

HAHA!!!

My Honda/VW dealer uses Enterprise. But I always thought that the luxo brands had their own loaners thus the car's that say loaner on it.

I think it's a pretty nice looking car compared to the car that it replaced, the Grand Am.... I think they did a decent job with it overall, with the exception of the 3.5 V6 that should, but couldn't, for some reason.

The G6 sucks. I drove one at the GM Auto Show in Motion a few months ago. and that interior is just awful. Everything is plastic, and looks and feels flimsy. The steering feels very loose, and even the doors feels cheap. Weak ass engine on top of that. Cheap ass looking radio, but that is commonplace in GM cars.

I don't think so. There's no reason that they can't get a high quality, but small and less powerful car. Corolla LE with leather package maybe? Or Accord EX 4cyl?

They STILL haven't fixed the plasticness. It's so plastic that even Barbie wouldn't feel at home in it.

I think that the car is more marketed towards females and has that look about it.
