Damn… I’m pissed
A guy here was selling his 1976 Vette and I was seriously thinking about buying it.
The thing was a 2-owner car and was all original and MINT.
Both owners worked here over the years and I know them well.
It was a 4-Speed stick, Burgundy exterior, tan leather inside and only 34,000 original miles.
Never saw rain and was garage kept its entire life.
Problem was the price was a little high. He was asking 14,500.
I told him to let me know if it drops closer to 10K.
He’s retiring in June and moving out of state.
So he advertises it in the paper for 12,500
I just found out he sold it for 10,000 cash to the first guy that looked at it.
SON OF A BITCH !!!

Always the case. Show up with a wad of $100's. The sight of that much cash tends to make people agree to a much lower price than they would normally. They advertising 9k? Show up with 6k cash and you will likely walk away with the car.
Sucks for you though.

Shawn... although I could never forget 'your' welcoming me into this forum.... yeah.. I am the guy who was passing the semi going 90 already on a 2Lanehwy... but enough of the 'foreplay' ..
I feel for you... however as 'life' would suggest... there are 'reasons' WHY things happen the way they do... and you can inquire GOD... but I am 95% positive that although the Vette looked/felt smashing... in reality, should you've gotten it... you'd be disappointed. I am NOT a psychic, however, a few times in my life I was fortunate in 'reversing' already made decisions... only to regret them later [I refer to materialistic items here]. So be glad it happened.... It seems impossible at this moment... but another reason why you haven't gotten it.. is that something better awaits you... Just let us know what it is when it does present itself . In the mean time to pass through your misery... get yourself dressed, put a nice watch on, shoes & belt - and go test drive a few toys.. - it will calm your soul a bit ..

Too bad Shawn....to make you feel better....those were not great vette years! They were known as plastic fantastics back then. Door sag was always a problem as well as roof leaks. $10,000 would have been a good price. If you are interested, I have friends over here with all kinds of vettes for sale.

It would have been a nice addition, and also a good reason to add a 15 car garage.
People do have a thing for selling stuff cheaper if it is for cash. Should have just showed him 10k in cash when he was selling it for 14k

I have another single bay that’s attached to the house.
It only has a single 8FT door, but inside it’s 20 x 24.
Plenty of room for one, or maybe even TWO future toys if I cleaned it out wall to wall.

This was an exception because I was very familiar with its history & two original owners.
And for a nearly 30-year old car that’s pretty good.

I thought he might be offended by the offer.

I thought for sure it would be called the M4.
I understand the history of the M3 name and all, but I think it will be weird to have an M3 designated as the top car in the 4-Series line.

Agreed. You still got your cash and it is only a matter of time before the next gem shows up. Kinda like buying a house - you aways feel bad about being outbid on the house you like but sooner or later you will find an even better one with better location, view, etc etc...
