For that much power I"m sure it is a single turbo. Most likely a T6

Two - Step ignition. Basically how it works is it sets an artificial rev limiter much lower than the actual redline. Actually, you can program the launch rpm anywhere you'd like. So when he's sitting there just before he's launching he's bouning off the rev limiter and that's causing the backfire. This way you can have your right foot all the way to the floor, and the clutch all the way to the floor, and you only have to worry about letting the clutch out, not easing the throttle in.

Basically the two-step set to the artificial rev-limiter is burning fuel and spooling the turbo off the line; much like what mrsteve said. Without it, it would be hard to get the times he did.

got mods????? holy shit what an engine bay......

btw this is one of the two top quickest 6-speed Supras in the country.... probably the world.... the other one is Ryan Woon out in AZ also... he is running in the low 9's as well....correct me if I'm wrong.

quite an accomplishment for the Supra since it is so damn hard to launch and most of the top guys have gone to Powerglide or other similar autos....

just thought of something in comparison.........

a modern F1 car does the 1/4 in 9.0 @ 181 mph

a CART car does it in 8.6 @ 166

just some times I have seen in the past..... looks like the ET could vary depending on conditions and launch, the F1 should be faster than 9.0..... but just kind of crazy to compare...... these race cars are FAST.

hmm.. I saw those numbers a few years back - I don't think the current cars are any slower, if anything, they are faster.

Interesting. Can they get traction to run those times? I suppose in a CART car alot of the weight is over the rear wheels correct?

yes, as evidenced by any race - I mean, you never see em going sideways or sliding all over the place, unless the track is wet.

I know for certain the F1 cars have ridiculous traction control systems that make the car grip like nuts
