The GT40 website doesn't mention anything about an alarm system as a option. Especially one that notifies you and the operator threatens to shut your car down. Not saying it's not factory, but it sounds more like a LoJack or something to that nature that maybe he had someone at Ford put on, but it's not an option.

Learn something about cars then come talk to me. The guy is complaining about an aftermarket alarm, which technically Ford really didn't have to deal with. He should be praising Ford for going above and beyond. The guy still is biased and an idiot (see what he said about the Z06 and C6).

Maybe in Europe Ford uses a Lojak type system on their vehicle security.

He was pissed at the alarm because not only would it go off in the middle of the night all of the time, there was also an immobilizer. Meaning that if the car were reported stolen, somebody comes over the intercom inside the car and asks for his password. If he can't give out the password, the car's engine will be remotely shut down.
Imagine... just spent well over 6 figured to learn that somebody else shut down his car remotely and nothing was wrong with it.

He said in his article "the car had been stolen over 5 times since 9am this morning".

He also the a problem with the engine light coming on...i'd be pissed too if i spent that much on a car and had all of these problems within a couple weeks. Hell, I made Audi buy my A6 back for minor problems and it cost a fraction of the GT.

Could you imagine calling Honda Motor Company and asking for your money back on your Acura because the alarm didn't work. Moreso, they give it to you

I just got done watching this episode, once again just brilliant. Of the three, the one I would choose would be the Ferrari. However, if I were given one, I'd take the Zonda, sell it and buy the other two plus an Audi A8 W12

The Ferrari F430 Spyder just represents everything I want in a car............stylish, powerful, beautiful, and has an incredible pedigree......

Jeremy Clarkson is such a fuckin prick. American cars never please him or that other asshole, Richard Hammond. Clarkson is so biased against American cars, but for some reason Richard Hammond pisses me off even more. Excuse me but, Britain is not known for the most reliable cars. Oh and its funny how Britains most exclusive auto brands are owned either by Americans or Germans.

The episode was pretty good, but the Ford GT being bad on gas gag gets pretty old quick. The Zonda and F430 are actually worse at the pump than the GT, but the GT is American so that joke wouldn't work with the others.

Here are the EPA figures:

GT:
Manual: 13 mpg / 21 mpg

F430:
Manual: 11 mpg / 17 mpg

Hmmn...

But doesn't the GT have a smaller gas tank?

It does, but it doesn't make it need gas significantly more often

holy cow, the F430 has a 25.1 gal fuel tank!! the GT has 17.5 gal. if anything, it's the GT that has the "normal" gas tank...

So the range on the GT by the numbers is 227 / 367 miles.... 276 / 426 for the F430, even though it gets worse mileage... so I can see how the F430 might SEEM like it gets better mileage, to n00bs at least...

good call Minch

oh yeah I think in one of the tests it said the GT gets about 4 mpg under hard driving.. so I think if you drove it hard all the time, you would get (gulp) about 70 miles per tank... sux. But the F430 is gonna get similarly poor mileage under hard driving too, this is obvious, I don't see what the big deal is... but at that rate of consumption, the F430 will get 100 miles per tank, just because it holds 8 more gallons

If you drove it hard all the time you would lose your license before you could refill the tank.

You couldn't be more wrong. He loves the Ford GT. He also loves the new Ford Focus. He doesn't hate all American cars, just the shitty ones. He does make a point when American cars can't handle. I mean, all the roads here are straight. You never find a Ford Mustang toguing a mountain do you?

Just got done watching the Top Gear episode. Thanks to whoever posted the bittorrent link. I gotta say though that my favorite part of the episode was the Euro Focus ST. damn that car is HOT! What is Ford thinking not bringing that car over here?
