The car is officially up for sale! I decided to list it as is. I'll give it two weeks, then I'll start taking parts off of it. I'm not in a rush to get something new, so there's a good chance I'll ride out the rest of the year without a car.

Good luck with the sale. I'm sure @rockstar143 has 1 or 5 he could loan you.

Trade for the DSG R? I need/want something larger, unfortunately. If the Golf R wagon were available here, my decision would already be made.

Funny guy...

Cross posting this from the wagon thread:

Since this is a discussion thread, I'll guess I'll discuss stuff. This weekend I went to Volvo to test drive the V90 T6 R Design and the XC60 T8. We drove the V90 first. I was seriously underwhelmed. It was good for what it was, but it did not feel like a $65k car. Aside from the seats, which were amazing, the interior felt no different then a $30k Accord or Golf. The T6 was acceptable, but it's not winning any races. The transmission felt antiquated. And for some reason the ride felt worse than my lowered Golf, which already annoys me over rough roads. I was seriously disappointed by it, so much so that I didn't even want to drive the xc60.

After that disappointment, we took a ride to Audi, where I test drove this:

It was an Allroad Prestige. It stickers for $5k more than the Volvo but felt like it was $35k more. The interior was beautiful. Everything felt high quality, the ride was butter, the 3.0T felt powerful (but laggy down low) and the transmission was very smooth. I know I've given the dual screen setup shit in the past, but there's tactile feedback, like you're pressing buttons. You still have to take your eyes off the road if you're pressing individual buttons, but if you want to change the temp, you can just swipe up or down on the left or right side of the screen. The only negative for me is that this car is definitely not sporty. The air ride makes the car kind of wallowy over road undulations, and the steering is lazy, even in dynamic mode. But holy hell was it smooth. I floored it on the highway and hit 100 (kph, obviously). Casey remarked that it was very smooth, and I said "yeah, that was 100". She didn't believe me, she thought it was maybe 80. She wouldn't admit it, as she wants my next car to be my decision, but of the three cars I test drove over the last week, this one was Casey's favorite.

However, this was the third, and it was my favorite

I need to find an E63 to drive locally, even if it's not an Estate, just so I can make an informed decision.

X3M Competition. The interior was a really nice place to be, and the ride was nowhere near as bad as reviewers made it seem. My only complaint with it is the on-center steering feel was non-existent. It was hard to hold a straight line. It cornered well though and was way faster than an SUV has any right to be.

Turo for an E63!

I'm shocked the X3 is your favorite so far, though I can understand it.

I forget - are you going to consider a Panamera wagon-thing? Even the base model might be sufficiently sporty.

The only Panamera I'd consider has a V8, and the wagons are still over $100k used.

Did you check out the X3M non-comp? Curious to hear if there's actually a tangible difference between them.

None of the dealers near me have a non-comp. Straight line performance is a pretty sizable gap though. Plus you get the upgraded seats and exhaust (which sounds awesome btw).

I take this back - I forgot that the 4S has the 2.9l twin turbo in it, so it's like a more luxurious RS5 (with slightly less torque, likely because of the PDK). A used 4S is closer to what I'd be willing to spend. I'll try to find one somewhat locally that I can check out. Thanks for bringing that up

Noted, the cost difference isn't huge so I would probably just go for the comp anyway. Good luck in the search!

Any bites on the Golf?

Also, FWIW, the new Macan Turbo has the 2.9L motor as well for a good bit cheaper than a panamera.

I've had a few people interested in it but all out of state and non-committal. I'm taking parts off of it starting this week, I just need to order some bits from VW. First up is the suspension and wheels, which may get done this coming Sunday - if I can get the parts in time.

The Macan Turbo is around the same price used as an X3MC new (with discounts), but very slow in comparison. New, the Turbo is six figures, and I'm not spending that on my next car.
