Welcome back man!
Don't worry about the part deal. It's alright. Thanks for refunding me in full.
Do you track your car at all? Or do you modify your cars just as a hobby? Just curious!

I have not tracked this car, or any of my cars. I mostly mod as a hobby, though I'd like to make it out to a few HPDE events. The goal was to get out there this year, but between moving and my cautious approach to the stock motor, I haven't been able to.
Might have to take you up on that.

Cayman S > 911
Until you get into GT3/Turbo territory, anyway. But that's a given.
Now that I think about it, if I stretched myself thin I could have gotten a Cayman S. But nah. It is a very tempting idea, but on principle I don't feel like replacing a water pump at 50k miles just because it's so common that it's recommended. That's just a bad precedent.

Nice. I'm sure the G has good pickup though. Manual or auto?
I 2nd the 911. Drove a turbo for a few weeks. Borrowed from my former boss. Thing was a blast.

Is swapping a factory turbo flat-4 from another Subaru an option? Might be easier to keep all accessories than with a J/LS swap.
And as far as other cars... what about a 135/335i? Good balance between DD/hoonigan, moddable, easy to get to quick HP numbers. Heck, even an E46 M3.

Do you still commute a lot? Seems like you need a car good on gas and good in the winter and a fun RWD car. Not sure the Lexus fits in there well as much as I like it.
How about a Simple J35 6th gen accord sedan for the commuter/winter beater. Just keep it simple. You know it well, pretty easy to maintain. Then get a toy.

Everyone has a 1 or 3 series. I think I'd be in the same position as I'm in with the FR-S after a little while.

^^^that sounds like the fkng S2000...I literally get the same mpg in that or the TL if I don't drive 55 with gel in my hair (for wind resistance)...it's nuts from a little 2.2.
BUT, that said, I'm sure most people would slap me if I told them I was trying to get good MPG in my S.
I wish I still had my 4 speed manual 1990 civic hatch...cheap to fill up, and the gas ran forever in that slow baby.

My '88 Civic averaged 40mpg with me beating the shit out of it - which I had to to get it going.
The FR-S is decent on open highway (~31mpg), but my CL was still better (32mpg), and got the same when I drove it hard (26mpg).

I guess it's the heat down here...or the "less than 10% but really probably more than 10% ethanol bcuz fk you, Florida" gas down here but I never get nearly that good a mileage. Best I've done in the TL was 28 and that was going 65 for a whole road trip.
I remember getting my 97 Accord after that civic and thinking...fk this thing is SOOOOO FAST!

Honda engines just have the most efficient and powerful N/A engines for their respective segments. The manuals are not only great shifting but the ratios are spaced correctly for daily driving too.
J-series + 6MT = 30+ mpg highway

Yeah probably but I am puting myself into his position and feel like I am looking for a car to marry with
After all that pretty fast CL, fun FRS and experiences... Now with one of his favorite wagon....
I would either keep the FRS N/A or aim for something rare
No Lotus no Honda engine no 997

A clean 993 Turbo is way above my price range. I've come the realization that long term ownership isn't for me, so I'm of the buy, enjoy, then sell without a huge loss mindset. That means I'm aiming for cars that hold their value well, like Lotus' and other older cars. If the FR-S were already back to stock, it'd be gone, and I could jump on a local deal that I'm closely monitoring (and hoping he doesn't sell for a while).
The CL was the longest period I've ever owned a car at 5 years 2 months. The shortest period I've owned a car was 5 months. I get bored easily - which eventually happened with the CL.
And I have a fear of commitment

jk, it's not a car for everyone. I actually push most people away from owning one because I know other cars would suit them better.

It's hard to get over that boredom...
I try and force myself to fall in love with what I have all over again, wash, rinse, repeat. I do that in life, with house, wife, cars, job...everything. Otherwise it's a never ending empty feeling chasing something that isn't ever really caught.

You moved and got ANOTHER car?! Geez....
As y'all know, I keep my cars until they succumb to time, wear & tear, gravity, stupid people, etc... We recently rolled-over to 200,000 miles!!!

I try to keep my cars as long as possible as well... would still have the Accord if fate didn't have other plans.
The K20 Lotus sounds like a sweet idea. Maybe even an MR2 if it's cheaper. Don't know how they hold their resale, though.
Are you looking to stay with two cars, or downsize to one?

Two. One comfortable, decently quick, cheap daily and a sports car of sorts.
The IS satisfies the first role, especially since insurance is about $680/yr and I owe nothing on it. The FRS costs more than an Elise or 911 would to insure. Add to that the cost to build it the FRS the way I want it, I'm better off getting something else.
