I would love an '83 Supra to restore and make it all uber-JDMey like Synth's GT-R. I feel like that was the heyday for Japanese sports cars for about a decade and then it just fell apart for another decade after that.

Oh damn, AZine got drop downs!!
Ill let Austin answer that one.
Forgestars
Anyway, I drove down to Atlanta this weekend for Import Alliance. I stopped by CCColts place Thursday night so I can ride out with them Friday morning. My car caught quite a lot of bugs
But Jason taped his car up so he won't have to deal with that.
And then we hit rain.
I was a zombie Friday due to 3hrs of sleep (I have no idea how Jason stayed up without any sleep), but I slept in Saturday, but got up just in time to get to the Stone Mountain AZine meet - albeit late.
Then we washed the cars, grabbed dinner, and went out to another meet that got shut down within 15 mins of us getting there. Sunday came around and we got up at 630 for breakfast and to ride out to Import Alliance.
And thanks to Eric for taking a few shots of my car at the gas station on the way there:
After hanging out at the meet for most of the day, we decided to hit the road around 5pm after grabbing lunch. The rest of the trip was pretty uneventful. I only saw two cops that weren't already preoccupied the entire weekend, which I thought was odd (but Im not complaining). I was booking it on the way home from NC Monday morning. I made it home about 30minutes faster then it took for me to get down to NC on Thursday
During the trip, I rolled 23k miles:
And this is what I have as of today:
I averaged 29mpg the entire trip too, which wasn't bad considering I had constant speed changes due to 18 wheelers deciding to pass other 18 wheelers on a hill
Oh, and an update won't be complete without a new mod....one which made my drive much more comfortable:
Its a Toyota option overseas, it's made by Toyota of the Czech Republic. It fits like OEM (because it is), and the quality is pretty good too. My phone can't reproduce colors the way my camera can, so thats why it may look like it doesnt match (since the seat isn't actually faded). It took about 1.5 months to get in and drilling into my center console was a bit nerve wracking.
Modifications As of 4/24/2013
- Grimmspeed license plate relocation kit

What a post..
Fun to read and nice shots
Armrest looks nice but I don't know how it looked before
Real reason why I love FRS more than BRZ is the gauges..middle one

This is what the center console looked like without the armrest:
And yes, I love the white gauge face on the tach.
I'll take some better pics of the interior within the week. My contract ends on the 30th, so I'll have plenty of time to work on/clean up the car.

Whaaaaaaaat
So totally no armrest?
Damn, should be on top of the mod list
BRZ gauge is too simple, why would they do that
Contract with the company you working with?
What's plan after that?

Yea, there really isnt an armrest. I guess their reasoning behind it is you should have two hands on the wheel all the time. I never really minded not having one until I installed it, then I wondered how I went this long without one.
And yes, the company I work for lost the contract for the customer I support, so my job goes away on the 30th. I've known about it since January or February. Ive interviewed with the company that has taken over the contract, and they told me 1.5 weeks ago that they'd be in contact with me within the next two weeks to move forward. I think theyre waiting for my contract to officially expire before making me an offer as they were somewhat hesitant to even interview me at the beginning of the month because they don't want it to seem as though they are poaching.
But, Im probably going to take a week or two off in the beginning of May, catch up on me time, maybe go out to CA or up to NY for a few days. Worst comes to worst, Ill pick up a contracting gig for the short term. I'd like to go back to school too.

Oh man, many routes to take.
Sometimes good, sometimes bad.. good luck dude.
Can't you just work part-time with the other company and go to school at the same time?

Not really, I've got bills. The good news is that the position with the new company is 4x 10hr shifts every week. They're long days, but I'd always have a 3 day weekend. Unlike what I've been doing for the past 6 years, which was having to fight for a day off.
The trip to Atlanta this past weekend was my first true vacation (where I left my work phone and computer at home) since Thanksgiving 2011. I think I've had off less then 20 days this year. The overtime is great (aside from the taxes), but Im mentally and physically exhausted. Thats why Im planning on taking the first week or two of May off and just relax.

Wow...you really do need a brake
I remember you waiting at a Hotel for the damn computers until morning
Uneven life is what makes us tires
Enjoy the time off, refresh and then hopefuly start to that job or something like that 4x10hr
Good luck dude
I am done with the semester now...2 weeks off and then the last semester during the summer. Graduation in my school is at August
After that, back to company I worked for a year
Although I found one nice internship at the cityhall which made me want to extend the school again but these last courses only offered during the summer.
So left it alone.. I don't want to wait one year to get the diploma ...

I feel you on the limited time off. I think I only took off 5 days last year and the one before other than holidays. Definitely has been exhausting. This year I have banked so much vacation I finally have to take two weeks of vacation or I will lose it.

That's identical to the setup for the aftermarket armrest for the rsx. I used to have it and loved it.
Morgan, you're stalk worthy and if you were driving distance, I'm sure I'd take the time to watch you shower and know what time you get home from work to accidentally run into you while walking my dog.
Awesome meet pictures...29mpg is nothing to scoff at, that's for sure. Nice! Your car is really awesome.

I agree. I think you should make the move down.
All the more reason to look to make the move to NC
You will love the 4x10 schedule. It is amazing. Yes the days are long and you don't feel like you get much done during the week in the winter but the rest of the year you can. The weekends are great for mini travel trips too.

At this point, I'd just love to be on a regular schedule again. Alternate work schedules suck.
And yea, I got sun poisoning. The nausea, chills, headache, and dizziness is gone though. My forehead and ears got it bad. But it seems as though the worst is over. I need to stock up on sunblock.

And thank you, I appreciate it. I was pleased with 29mpg. The CL still beats it on roadtrips though.
Thank you. I hear they match your vagoo quite nicely.

Surprised you made it that long, you must have had some sort of sunblock on to protect that vampire skin...
Sun poisoning sucks though. I got sun burnt really bad one time, I now have spots all over my shoulders and back. They look like freckles.

Last weekend, 23k miles. This weekend, 24k miles. Next weekend, ???
I went up to Maryland yesterday for a meet at Pure Autos shop. There were a total of 35 86s there. Thats the most Ive seen in one location. I had fun, but it was a long day.
My pictures sucked though so Im not even going to bother posting anymore.

Forgot to mention, the silver one on the front row and the second white car to the right are turbo'd. There was a manufacturing defect in the turbo on the silver one, so its NA at the moment, but it makes north of 400hp and they say its perfectly streetable. The white one is the shop owners car, he put the kit on the night before the meet. He hasnt tuned it or even taken it above 5mph. Hes aiming for 350whp on 6psi, then once they swap out the turbo for something larger hes hoping for 400+ on pump gas, and over 500whp on E85.
The red one in the third row back has the Vortech kit, Perrin overpipe and cat back, and unequal length headers. I can't remember who makes them. Its a bit loud outside of the car but surprisingly doesnt drone. Im not a fan of the unequal length sound though - its not for me. The guy took me for a ride in it, and it feels like an NA car, just faster. He was running the stock pulley on it which is rated at 9psi.
All the others were NA. I wish one of the turbo'd cars were driveable, I would've loved to go for a ride in one of those.
