Just got caught up here. Great pics. Looks like a lot of fun to drive. Now you have a car for twisties and one for straight aways!

Chargespeed updated their site, they now have the FR-S listed:

http://www.chargespeed.com/zn6-bottom-1.htm

I need to see bigger pics to decide if I truly like it.

Hmmmmmmm, it looks good from the small pics but yes larger pics are a must. Is it only the CF lip or does it have any other parts with it? Also what are your thoughts on that Evo 9 looking roof diffuser thing?

I like that kit a lot. Just needs another 70-80hp and more importantly about 120lb-ft of torque.

Not sure if it's available in anything other then CF. Im probably going to wait until the end of the summer before I pull the trigger on any lip kit, the market is still emerging.

I don't blame you, with such a new market they've got going on here, you never know what parts are going to come out. It would suck to buy some parts and then a month later see something better released and want that.

Side note: I keep seeing the FR-S TV commercial and I want to just go tear the shit out of one drifting lol

I don't wanna be mean, but man the front of the subie looks nicer than the frs (I know it can be swapped easily). I think I like the blue the best also.

I like how the subie is parked the other way like he has his back turned to all the fr-s's. He is too good for you.

That chargespeed kit looks nice, aero effective, and i bet a pretty penny.

Wow, I really need to check the sub forums more often...
What a great pickup...I love this car...it seems the car manufacturers haven't totally forgotten about a dying demographic of enthusiasts that demand a decently priced RWD car that has all the bells and whistles.

I guarantee you that between toyota and subi, there will be more of an aftermarket for these cars than your pocket can handle for everything from ice to power to looks etc...

Congrats, Morgan.

J.

Leno got one:

http://ca.autoblog.com/2012/06/18/20...-lenos-garage/

Leno has finally gotten around to getting his hands on the Scion FR-S. The latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is all about the new low-buck sports car from Toyota. Jack Hollis, the vice president and General Manager of Scion, stops in to give the TV personality a full walk-around of the 200-horsepower coupe. While Leno's collection includes every shade of high-horsepower machinery, the comedian is also a fan of cheap driving fun for the masses. Hollis hits the high points of the model's development, including the tie-in with Subaru and not-so-subtle nods to the ghosts of Toyota performance past.

As usual, the cameras follow Leno as he takes the FR-S onto the streets around Los Angeles for a quick sprint. He also submits the boxer four to his typical "immaturity test" with mixed results. We approve all the same. You can check out the full video by scrolling below or head over to JayLenosGarage.com to check out a few photos of the FR-S hanging out in the Big Dog Garage.

Subie - more interior options, slightly different suspension tuning.

More like, what have I done (that was taken Friday night)?

Eh, its not really a huge secret. I cant stand halogens, so I ripped out the stock halogen projectors and stuffed some Morimoto Mini H1s in there until I get a set of BRZ or GT86 headlights to put my RX350s in. We've had insane storms the past two nights, so I havent been able to go to my usual spot to align them and then get output shots. It doesnt look like rain tonight, so Ill probably do it then.

The Retrofit Source just came out with their RetroQuick package, which has the
projectors, drop in brackets, car-specific relay harness, Morimoto ballasts and bulbs. You can't beat that for $237 shipped (with coupon ).

All in all, the swap took about 3 hours, and most of that time was spent ripping the front end apart. But, it was 107* outside when I was doing this (not including the heat index) and I think I sweat off about 12lbs. I will not be doing this sort of work in the summer ever again.

The headlights look identical to OEM. I thought about black housing them but then the turn signals in the bumper would look weird, so I just left it as is. I also was racing against the clock since I was yelled at in the past for using the oven for my car parts

We actually didnt get rain tonight so I went out to aim the headlights. My usual spot was occupied by trailers, so I had to do it in front a store. At midnight. With measuring tape and duct tape. The cops were circling

Anyway, after I did that, I took a drive to a relatively dark road to snap some pics. A cop stopped, asked what I was doing. I explained, he was confused and just said dont get hit.

Color band at ~100ft:

Overall, Im impressed by these projectors given their size and price point. Obviously, TL or RX350bix projectors will absolutely destroy them, but they are still pretty damn good. The highbeam is what I find most impressive, which I have 4; 2 are the HID projectors (5000k bulbs) and 2 are my Nokya yellows:

Ill try to take some more pics that really illustrate the output sometime this week, but the cops are really out due to the holiday.

We've been pretty lucky here. We lost power once Friday night and twice Saturday night, the longest we've been without power was maybe 3 minutes. My brother on the other hand lost power Friday night and it didnt come back until Sunday morning. Both days were in the 100s. Sucks for him

The wind Friday was brutal. There were some branches in the yard but nothing crazy. The lightning was awesome though. Seems as though DC got the brunt of it. We had another crazy wind storm last Monday, I think we had 80mph winds. That left a bit more damage in the area.

Oh, aside from the headlight work, I also adjusted the clutch pedal so it catches at a normal height and made this:

Parts used:

-3/16" flat steel
-Reflector off a bicycle
-Some nuts, bolts and washers I had laying around
-The case for Dremel cut-off wheels to use as a spacer for the reflector clamp.

You can barely see it from outside the car, and once I get the remote display, you wont be able to see it powered up at night I do plan on cleaning it up a bit once my HomeLink mirror comes in (tomorrow!! ). If I think its too "in the open", I do have one more spot I can stash it where no one will see it

How much of a fine is it if you get caught with the radar detector?

Don't know what the fine is but looks like he hit the negative lottery. This says it is the only state (DC isn't a state) prohibiting them.

http://www.radarbusters.com/legalissuesarticle.cfm

The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and on military bases.

Radar detectors are illegal in all commercial vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds

In Canada, the only three provinces that allow their use are Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Many overseas countries also ban their use, such as Portugal, Finland and Spain.

In areas that radar detectors are illegal, law enforcement use a device called the Spectre that is able to detect the use of radar detector in your car or truck. For more information on the Spectre, click here.

Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

If you decide to use a laser jammer in one of the states that they are outlawed, consider getting the Blinder M-20 or M-40 or the Lidakek LE-30. The Blinder and the Lidatek are the only laser jammers made today that give minimal "error codes" to the police laser guns.
