Neuspeed is equally as expensive though at ~$1300 a set but now the GTI is even shipping with the black pretorias so maybe the price will start to go down? Konig Oversteers are heavier but WAY cheaper for a set. I personally don't even care about the weight at this point, they are just fugly.

I did another thing today...
I worked with a guy from the MK7 forums (gti_jake aka Baun Performance) on modifying his GTI kit for the R. Thankfully, it didn't take a lot to get it to work properly. It's 100% reversible and required zero cutting to the bumper, or anything else, really. Since I'm still breaking in the clutch, I can't get on it to see what sort of benefit I'm seeing at WOT, but it's already cut the cruising temp delta by about half - the ambient temp was 59°, I was seeing between 68 and 72° after the IC, where I'd usually see 80-90° in the same circumstances. I can't wait to see how it performs this summer.

I was thinking of running meth to cool the charge a bit more, but my tuner doesn't like it and would prefer I don't. So those bungs may just sit there unused.unused. If I were to eventually run meth, I'd probably just run it off the washer fluid reservoir, since washer fluid is easy to get and contains alcohol.

Not a huge fan of meth for a daily driven car either. If you like to do any sort of road tripping and your tune is based on that cooling it just opens you up to lots of chances of being stuck without and thus risk of your tune being wrong for conditions. I get that you could have a seperate tune you could load but that just seems like a lot of added headache again for a daily.

I'm all for running meth if it's not a daily driver ... Best part about using the windshield washer reservoir is it'll alert you when it's low

I thought when you are on meth, everything feels fast... even when you are standing still...

This would have never crossed my mind but this is an awesome idea if running meth and have a car that actually has a sensor for that.

Baby steps
I would love some TC105Ns, but unfortunately I can't run a very aggressive setup on this car. If I run an 8.5" wide wheel, I'd have to stay in the +40-44mm offset range in order to run a 245 or 255
I'm looking at these Neuspeeds (and I can run the VW center cap on them):
But if funds allow, I'll spring for some Titan7 forged wheels:
I may be willing to run wobble bolts so I can run a 5x114 wheel, so really the options are plentiful.
Supposedly the R has the sensor, I just need to code it.

Out of those two wheels the Titan7 look much better. Look a lot like a set of wheels BBS makes.

Those look like a lot of metoo wheels nowadays...
that said, they are that way because they are a very classic and nice look.
I wanted them for the V...and @ebelp had ones for his SRT.

I'd run a set of TEs or CEs if I could get an aggressive fitment, but the car just isn't built for it.

Too poor to afford $2000 wheels? You are full of shit.
You are too SMART to spend that on wheels because you don't feel the perceived value is worth it.
I know because you aren't stressed to take longer to sell your S2000 at a premium...
and your growing wood working hobby...and bragging about cost of living being like 5% in
comparison to rest of America. And you're smart and probably good at what you do and
make a good living.

To be fair though, I took the S2k off the market for the winter because no one is going to want to look at it now and I take the liability insurance off of it during the winter so it has been sitting for a while not on sale just like it did last winter. It'll go back on the market in the spring but I'm in no huge hurry to sell, it's too fun to be in a hurry to get rid of it.
Also, I brag about the CoL being much cheaper here than in CA and in the NE, I'm sure it's pretty comparable to FL and other parts of the country.
As far as smart and make a good living, I'm not rich but I can't complain about my situation.

Nailed it.
See...pulled off market during winter...removed liability.
You are smart as fuck.
And for the record...right this moment I'm totally with you on NOT spending 2k on wheels...
fuck that...different place in my life, different priorities.

Agreed. That's why I haven't done it yet (especially since tires will be another $900...). I'm just waiting for a clean set to come up on the used marked I've never purchased wheels new. Ever. It's throwing money away.

This! 10038940980239894823908x The best part is after that initial value drop in wheels they don't ever really drop anymore unless you curb them.

When I was in school I thought it would be so easy to drop a few thousand on car stuff after graduation. Not the case. At all.

I can't believe I'm just now finding your thread! I know your car from Jake's front mount thread when he posted pics of your install. I see you're leaning towards EQT and I think that's the best turbo out right now. That's what I would get if I was AWD. I thought about going that route, but I ultimately don't want to touch HPFP/LPFP and that's where that turbo shines. Your car will be a monster with that setup.

It should still be pretty fun with the EQT, though I wish there were more ball bearing options for us.
