Im cheap. I got the current bracket for free. I looked into running one of those hide away plates awhile ago though and the way the grille is designed wouldnt allow the frame to be mounted. I wasn't cutting into the bumper either.

Anyway, got the windows tinted earlier. Only one guy was working in the shop and people kept coming in asking dumb questions, so it took nearly 4 hours. He had to remove the rear paneling around the window and the rear deck to tint the entire window (no cutout for the third brake light ). He did my CL 4 years ago and it still looks great.

The film used was technically 60% front and 42% rear, but the glass has a slight tint from the factory. After it was installed, he tested the front at 43%, which is within state law (50% max on front, +/-7%). I didnt want any darker tint because state police sees it as easy revenue, and it makes me an easy target. Id prefer to follow the law to the T (where they can/I let them see it ).

I should've grabbed my polarizing filter for this pic, but I wasnt thinking

And yes, the lawn was mowed shortly after I took these pics

You have no idea. The handling is unlike anything Ive ever driven. I can't wait to get stickier tires on it too.

Im trying my best to baby it, which means Im not driving it in the rain. Unfortunately, its going to rain most of this week

Luckily we had a break in the rain today, but not its back under the car cover, where it will stay until the weekend most likely I can't wait to clean out the garage so I no longer have to mess with the cover.

But I already have over 700 miles on it

have you considered any wheel choices yet? Florence Scion has one coming on the 28th, sold but I might try to ninja a test drive before the owner picks it up.

Im still on the fence. Im leaning towards a certain wheel just until Enkei brings some of their wheels stateside (platinum silver RSM9s ) Theres a few other wheels that they dont even have listed on the Japanese site yet.

Rain is just a way of life if you're going to drive your car...Which, by the way, it's great to see that you are.

Besides if you didn't drive it in the rain, you wouldn't have a reason to wash and wax it.

I'm digging the tint! I think I should get some wheel time behind when the hype dies down a bit. Looks like a lot of fun.

I totally forgot about this car, very cool, congrats!

Using the Boxer motor I am surprised that it isn't turbocharged, any talks about a turbo version? Anyways, looks like a fun car, enjoy!

TRD is working on their supercharger. The latest rumors Ive heard about the STI version is it will be NA and make around 250hp. Toyota doesn't want a turbo because it would kill throttle response, which is understandable, but the car doesnt make much power below 3k rpm. If you size the snail just right, full boost should kick in right around there.

But the tuner shops are going wild with it, from HKS' turbo'd car to Greddy's supercharged version, and even Gazoo Racings twin charged monster. Most of us on the forum are waiting to see what the engine can handle.

Subaru has said that wont happen because of the engine placement. The engine would have to be lifted up to fit the diff, and thatll ruin the balance.

If they came out with another AWD coupe, it might as well be an SVX successor.

btw 7% of 50 is 3.5....so allowed % is 46.5....and you got 43%....

so if a cop really wants to be a dick he can write u up....

now if you meant a SD of 7% then you are right on target....

Tint makes the car look ON POINT !!! me likey !!!

I guess I meant SD The legal limit is 50%, but with variances in tint quality, windows, and of course the reader, they let you get away with anything as low as 43%.

Its weird that the film on the FR-S is technically lighter then the CL, yet its darker

Thanks!

I thought it was interesting in the Drive video with Chris Harris, he asks the designer if you can get a mechanical diff as an option. He says Yes, for serious track guys and drifters that is an option. Wonder if that is offered in the US.

IIRC TRD has an optional diff for the 86. I don't think Ill ever drive the car hard enough to warrant it, but we'll see.

Its near the top of the list, Im just waiting for parts to officially hit the market.

Just spoke with the GM at the dealer regarding the clear bra. He said since he was out of the office, he didn't see the car when it came in and he told another manager that if it can get done at port, then do it.

Unfortunately they only ordered the top strip, not the bumper covering. Hes calling his 3M guy to schedule a time to have the rest of it done. I mentioned the rock chip as well, and he was pissed. Hopefully they can fix it. Im going to try to get them to do the mirrors and area behind each wheel as well, and possibly the indent behind the door handles

Sadly that is what will most likely happen since they are so affordable. I just hope some people will be able to keep them looking clean. Im looking into the BRZ or 86 myself. Nice upgrade civicdrivr

I was reading how the brembos from the 09-11 wrx will fit the fr-s. The rear just requires slight modification. You might want to grab a used set before price goes up.

They kind of "fit", but theyre not ideal. IIRC, the pistons are different sizes. When mounted on the FR-S/BRZ, the bleed valve is on the bottom. If you swap the calipers left/right, the bleed valve is in the proper place, but now the leading piston is the smaller one. The stock brakes on this car are made for the WRX, a car that weighs 700lbs more. They definitely stop the car well. I will eventually upgrade to a BBK, but not now.

That car has NO need for a BBK unless you are putting down serious power to the wheels or spending LOTS of time at the race track.
