Last time I checked the fine was less than $50 at which point I concluded that I would rather take my chances as it was cheaper than a speeding ticket for sure. However, it may have changed.

Some people are funny.

"I'm done with these cars. I don't care how balanced it is.

Over $60k for a 300 hp car?! Only one brand gets to over charge for underpowered cars, right Porsche?!"

Guess he doesn't realize it is an aftermarket tuner not toyota charging that price. That is how modding a car works when using quality parts, especially when making it a race car with full roll cage.

My shops owner has a 350z with probably 100 grand put into it. I joke with him and say he should have just bought a GT-R instead, but he is sponsored so he doesn't pay for it all. Just his brakes alone are 10 grand.

Some people just need to stick to buying stock mustangs and calling it a day.

IIRC its under $100 with court costs. They can confiscate the detector only as evidence. Once you go to court, you have 3 months to claim the detector, otherwise they destroy it. If youre thinking of getting one, make sure it has a radar detector detector detector Troopers do have devices that can pick up detectors if they emit any stray signals.

The use of a radar detector in a passenger vehicle is legal in all states with the exception of Virginia, Washington DC. and on military bases.

Radar detectors are illegal in all commercial vehicles weighing over 10,000 pounds

In Canada, the only three provinces that allow their use are Alberta, British Columbia and Saskatchewan.

Many overseas countries also ban their use, such as Portugal, Finland and Spain.

In areas that radar detectors are illegal, law enforcement use a device called the Spectre that is able to detect the use of radar detector in your car or truck. For more information on the Spectre, click here.

Laser Jammers and Radar Jammers are illegal in the states of Nebraska, Minnesota, Utah, California, Oklahoma, Virginia, Colorado, Illinois and Washington DC.

If you decide to use a laser jammer in one of the states that they are outlawed, consider getting the Blinder M-20 or M-40 or the Lidakek LE-30. The Blinder and the Lidatek are the only laser jammers made today that give minimal "error codes" to the police laser guns.
The trick to running a jammer/shifter is to slow down to the speed limit and turn off the device once you get hit. That way they do get a reading, but it wont be of you speeding.

Theres plenty of people that run detectors in VA. Since the laser portion of the detector doesnt do much good (it pretty much tells you that youve been hit), you can mount the detector anywhere. A lot of the BMW guys hide it in a head rest, then have a remote display somewhere. Im still planning where to truly hide it, but I have a few ideas. This interior is much easier to hide it in then the CL was, thats for sure

So insideline got a frs. They will also be getting a brz and they had a question why have two longterm cars that are really similar. To answer they said the frs will be a project car so they will be adding aftermarket stuff.

you should follow them, i will haha

Morgan, have you thought about figuring out which of the wires going to the V1 is power and running a toggle to it for an easy flip to OFF if you get pulled over? That way no visible arms reaching for anything. Location is on point though...

I am kind of itching to go test drive one of these just to see how it drives...

Yep I've got the wiring diagram for the V1 on my other PC. IIRC the outside wires are power and ground, I just forget which is which. I've got placement of the push button power in mind, that is VERY hidden, even if they do search the car (not that they have any reason to, but you never know ).

I got my Homelink mirror in yesterday and installed it this morning. My V1 mount no longer works The new mirror is larger, and theres not much room to stick the V1 above it, unless I move the mirror down, which then blocks some forward visibility. I've got another location in mind

good luck, i had no success test driving. They only had one on the lot and the salesmen said he would give people test drives if he had quite a few of these. Also he was telling me how many people bought the car without test driving them. I dont think i can do that haha.

No Homelink offered? You use one from another Toyota or what?

My Z is a base. No CC, Homelink, LSD etc. I added it all love having a car without all the nanies & heavy leather etc but WITH all the necessities!

SUSPENSION????

You have to remember, its not really a Toyota. Its a Homelink mirror from an '09 Legacy. I may eventually swap it out for either the BRZ mirror or one with the red compass and hidden display, but for now it will do.

And I do enjoy not having all the extras I really dont need, and an easily defeatable TCS/VSA system. The TPMS light on the dash annoys me though.

I havent contacted them about the suspension yet. Ill send them an email tomorrow night so its near the top of their inbox come Thursday morning

Is the TPMS light on even if the tires are ok? On the Z it is only on if it is low or in the multi gauge if you choose it so you can see the pressure. I have ambient temp there 99% of the time. Base Zs have no TCS/VSA which I prefer.

Sucks you have to keep bugging them. What was the eta when you ordered?

I dont have the sensors in my new wheels, but they are fine. The light only comes on after 20 miles, since the Subie sensors only turn on when the tire rotates. So I cant even fool the system by putting them in a sealed, pressurized PVC cylinder and tossing them in the trunk.

When I need new tires, Ill probably get the sensors, but knowing me Ill just get new wheels

When they had the car for measurements, they told me two weeks, or the first half of June

Shoulda just pointed at the new ones and said "well theres your cars, let me drive that one (pointing to the one already prepped)"

They do come off the OEM wheels. I just dont feel like spending the money to have the OEM wheels and tires and the new wheels and tires separated just to get a stupid sensor

Yea, one of the data centers I cover is in one of those areas. It astounds me that people dont understand how to handle an intersection when the power is out

Yea, it was the most Ive spent on a car thus far and it took a lot of thought before eventually signing the papers. The thing that helped was being chosen a month before the car came out. I put the deposit down March 30th IIRC. I had plenty of time to think things through, and I always came back to wanting the car.

Yeah these morons barely know what to do at a 4-way stop, but a intersection with a stoplight that's out? Look out!!!! Morons are on the loose.
