What coils are you gonna go with. I would pick the kw variant 3 personally.
It makes sense putting a v8 in it if it is a competition drift car. In a drift car all that matters is low end torque to break the rear loose.
Otherwise I would not want a v8. Too much weight and raises the center of gravity, plus throws off the balance.
The whole design of this car is based on putting a flat four as low and far back as possible. If you throw in a v8 you are defeating alot of the design aspects of the car.

Re: the engine - I agree, it is heavy. But the IS-F powered 86 has firewall modifications that push the engine pretty far back. Obviously, its not something Im doing, but I can dream, right?
Im not doing anything crazy to the engine for another 2-3 years. I have a lifetime engine warranty through the dealer I purchased the car from, and I'd at least like to keep it for the first 3 years or so, or until its paid off.
Once thats done, Ill build the FA up for boost. But thats still tentative. If there is another car on the market that seems like a better chassis to work with, Ill obviously trade up - which is another reason Im leaning towards just bolt ons. I shot myself in the foot with all the work done to the CL, Im not making that mistake again.

Its simple. Too much money into a car that is worthless. Parting out is a pain in the ass. Ill lose WAY too much money trading in or selling outright....

if yes, you have a buyer if you part out
if the MT fits the TL as well, will take that too

No, I want the CL

As for the V8, I totally agree Brian, V8 swaps are waaaaay too impractical to do for someone who isn't trying to professionally drift or something of that matter. Plus they are ridiculously pricey, really the only time it's "cheap" is when you put an LS into an S chassis because you could pick up both for less than 1500 if you don't mind condition.
STFU you're CLtotheTL not TLtotheCL, who is a tool as we all know

You guys crack me up.
The tranny is actually from a '06 TL (I had to replace mine). The block will fit the 3G, but the heads are different. You'll need A3/A8 heads, unless you want to run an actual header instead of PCDs. But I dont know what sort of can of worms youll get into when it comes to tuning in that chassis.
The motor put down 294/275 at the wheels before the 3" exhaust and equal length long tube headers. I havent dyno'd it since. As you and a few others know, I do have a few last things planned just to see what the motor is capable of without power adders. Im hoping for 330/300 at the wheels. Im still toying with the idea of getting cams too. Im thinking those will be the key to hitting high 300s.
Honestly though, I dont think I'd sell the motor. I'd part out the CL and drop the engine into another chassis. Not sure what, maybe the back of a CRX, Elise, or maybe a kit car

Lotus would be sick but dude my friend has an Elise, they are really really small. Have you ever tried to fit in one?

Not much has happened honestly. Most of the posts were pissed off members trying to figure out what wheels I got
Page 11 and 13 have the newest pics. Nothing has changed, but I do have stuff planned for next week

Not crazy about the FR-S? I haven't touched the CL since the end of May. I think the battery is dead in it
Im not getting rid of the CL any time soon, but if the right opportunity presents itself (eg - a clean white or blue AP2 with a blown motor), then Im parting it out.
I love the FR-S. I've got over 4300 miles on it. I wash it on average 3 times a week. I take the very long way to work just to avoid construction. I haven't rushed out to buy tons of mods yet because Im waiting for the market to fully establish. The rate that things keep coming out, I have a feeling Ill have buyers remorse if I rush out and buy something now just to see a better product next week. Im also trying to do something I didnt do with the CL - enjoy it as close to stock as possible and enjoy every mod individually. I rushed things in the CL. The engine was stroked within 18 months of ownership. I got bored with it because there were very few mods left to do.

The CL stock is kind of crappy, it needs mods especially suspension and brakes.
The FR-S seems much more capable in stock form, no reason to rush modding it.
BTW saw another FR-S the other day. This one was like a burnt orange color. These things sure are popping up everywhere.

Had a small get together with some of the local owners. Look! A month into selling these cars and theres already more FR-S'/BRZs at a meet then the amount of CLs we could get Two modded STIs also showed up, but they left before I took a pic.
I didnt realize it until today, but I met the guy that owns the blue BRZ a few weeks ago when I was getting the clear bra done.

If you insist:
I wish I had a chance to wash it prior to the meet, but work said NO. I need those clear bumper lights Im also going to wait until next year to get the personalized plate that I want. I want to keep the May reg tags

Awesome
I really like that orange color. Does it look that good in person?
Do you like the front plate location? I like when stuff is symmetrical and your plate bugs me

The white isn't bad in person, but that blue
I like the position of the plate. It keeps the radiator intake mostly unimpeded. There was no way in hell I was going to drill into the bumper to mount the OEM plate bracket either. I really wish we didn't have a front plate though
Can't hear you over epic RWD burnouts....
BTW, forgot to add that these are not my pics. You can tell because theyre better
