My dad had a really clean black 71 Riviera boat tail, I miss that car

It's a matter of opinion. Technology is a good thing. Would you really want to be driving cars like that today?

I don't think I would want to drive them with some of the "original" equipment in them (brakes, steering, suspension), but the bodies are really the story. Hell, someone posted here (or somewhere) that a Honda Odyssey was a better handling vehicle than a 1970 Plymouth Superbird, and was quicker. I digress.

If I could, I'd love to have an old Charger / Challenger, but with modern brakes, steering, and suspension. That would be alright. There's a company in Canada that does this, resto-mod is the process but I forgot the name of the company.

OP, you know most of your images are of concept cars, right? By that standard, here's Honda, arguably the most design-conservative manufacturer today:

I've worked on a few cars that company did (name is eluding me, too). They're pretty sweet. They're still giant cars, but having a 6 speed transmission, disc brakes, and power steering helps a lot.

Here is one of them http://gtaindetail.com/pics/chevelle082208/images/u.jpg

Still carbureted, 572.

I think the cars of the 70's and 80's were really nice. The 50's was a lil strange looking for cars. Some of them are nice, and would be cool to have restored but I think car designs are much better today.
