Cheap stick car for a DD
Hey guys,
Im looking for a cheap car, under or about 30k thats decently quick, 0-60 in under 5.8 seconds or so. Size isnt a problem.
Ive been looking at the mustang (2014) since i can get a good 7k off msrp for it, the focus st, camaro lt, but its on the slower side of for a muscle car, and the gti.
Does anyone have any other suggestions?
I was thinking of the brz/frs but theyre a little slow for my taste, maybe if i drive it, itll be better. I like the new mustang with ecoboost, but its decently expensive but an option non the less.

yea, that br-z aint getting in the sub 6's 0-60 either lol.
The MX-5 would be a blast.. but not practical at all for a DD.
I like the WRX idea...
Focus ST is in your performance/price range as well (5.8 0-60)

Lol. Good point. Maybe medium priced. Expensive to me would be over 60k. The last car i got under 30k was in 1996. Was a honda accord.
OT: i dont think the miata fits the bill. The trunk is terrible, but at least i could get loyalty lol.
Maybe a wrx ill take a look.

the Focus is a good option too. for a FWD it loves to hug the road. But i think for holding its value the WRX would probably better in that department. plus the new WRX's all come in 6 speed manuals.

average car price in US for 2014: $31,252. is under 30k cheap? no, but its technically less than average.
By comparison, to the 1996 reference, the last data point i have is for 1993, in which case the average car cost $12,750.

I own a BRZ. While I wouldn't sell mine for a WRX, between the two I recommend most people to get a WRX. It's a huge improvement over the previous ones.
I love the Mustang 5.0 but the next generation (2015) is coming out very soon. Either wait for the next gen to come out and buy one, or save even more by buying a 2014 then.

Go with a new Mustang out of the choices listed, the aftermarket options are almost limitless, not to mention you can have a car in the low 12's with a few bolt ons and a tune. Also a used Vette is always an option unless you're looking for new only.

BRZ if you are ever going to track the car.
If not, BRZ.

What about the 2014 Accord Coupe V6 6 speed? All in you're at about $33,500 but I'm sure you can get the dealer down a grand or two. 0-60 in 5.6 and, though biased, I can attest that it's a practical coupe.

Ive been crunching numbers and want to go even lower in case insurance is high. What can i get for about 22.5k? Similar criteria, but it could be a little slower.

The new Cooper S starts at $24k. You could probably find plenty of CPO previous-gen models for much less too.

$22K should be able to get you a mint S2000.

Hahaha. Yup, that's the way everyone is. I want to pay for a lada but drive a Mercedes. Why do you think I ended up with a nicely equipped Kia? It has all the gizmos of the germans and japanese at a fraction of the cost. If only they made performance cars lol.
