Which would you choose for a summer sports car?

Z06, as long as we're talking C6 here... Nothing wrong with the other cars, but I'd prefer more straight line speed than cornering.

I've looked at Caymen S, Exige S and decided to go with BMW Z4 M Roadster.

As much as the idea of a Z06 intrigues me, I don't want to own one.

I have a neighbor that uses an Exige S as his daily driver (no shit) ... That is a badass little sports car.

Lotus is my choice on that list.

Though if I had the means, I'd probably have a NSX

If that were one of the choices it would have been my first... Amazing little car.

Well the Z06 is by far the most capable sports car of the bunch on a track or on a straight line. But, the cayman s is beautiful, fun to drive, and just amazing, but its still gonna get smoked by a Z06. The Lotus......yuck, i just dont like them. the Z06 will put a smile on your face, 505hp FTW!

Elise. I'd always much rather have a car that handles better than have a car that has tons of power. Although since I've never driven any of these, this is just my initial uneducated opinion.

Cayman for me. It's not the fastest or the best handling of the bunch, but it's something I can live with day in, day out.

Z06 - "Car is like herpes. Geat fun catching it, but not so much fun to live with every day."

Elise - Not that appealing to me. And kinda ugly.

Tough call between the Cayman S and Z06...

Z06 would edge out in front just a little for me.

I haven't driven any of them, but would choose the one with the best shifter/clutch combo.
I'm partial to the Cayman just for its smaller size and better interior over the Z06 and better liveability than the Elise, but have no idea how good the manual transmission is.

Z06 if the car is to have an automatic transmission.

I never looked at the Z06 reviews to see if they came with autos as an option since I'd only consider a sports car with a stick.

Elise has the advantage of becoming an open-air car though.... but I think I would take a Boxster S over one. If it were my daily driver in summers, its a tough one, but I'd go with the Cayman S.

But if I (hypothetically) still had an E39 M5, I would go with a C6 Z06.

Cayman S and Elise both excellent choices, personally I would go with the Cayman because it is more comfortable and practical.

The Z06, while a very respectable choice, is like doing the salsa paired with a dude, and I'd rather dance with a sexy, tossable, hottie - depends on what your looking for.

Cayman S no doubt about it. The balance is perfect and it is incredible refined not to mention it has 2 trunks. It can go 160+ mph does 0-60 in 5.1 sec. and you can easily go to grocery shopping with it, you can go golfing with a buddy and bring both sets of clubs. You don't even have to consider sports car only as it is extremely capable as a daily driver, not meaning you coulddaily drive it, it was designed to be used that way.

It depends on the day of the week but I would be between a Cayman/Boxster S and the Elise.

As much as I appreciate the raw appeal of the Z06, I think most of its performance is not safely usable on public roads and the interior is not up to par - perhaps more luxurious then the Lotus, but the little British car is all about function and they do have incredible comfortable seats, and IMO a quality and uniquely styled interior. The vette just looks and feels cheap compared, but few buy that car with the interior in mind.

Make sure you can fit into an Elise. It's very narrow inside. Limited foot well space.

If I wanted an open top... Elise.

If not, Cayman S.

Since it would be for a weekend/summer car I'd likely appreciate the open roof... so I'd go Elise.

a lot depends on how tall you are:
for example i'm 6 ft 4 and it's tight for me in a Cayman and Lotus
so for me a Z06 is the only real pick.but if i wasn't so big i'd concider the Lotus.the Cayman does nothing for me.

FYI Cayman S is Porsche's fancy way of saying Boxster S coupe.

Caymans and Boxsters have the same underpinnings. The odd part is that you pay more for the hard top in this case than you do for the convertible

It goes beyond that because even pieces of sheet metal (front fenders/ hood/ and doors) are interchangeable. The problem with the Boxster (and all convertible Porsches) is the humpback they get where the roof retracts to. The only benefit is not loosing the trunk when the roof goes down.

whats bigger, your eyes or your balls?

This will decide between the Cayman and the Z06. Unless your vagina is the biggest, then the Lotus.

The Cayman S is gorgeous. I love it.

Its also a pain in the ass to get in and out of all the time. I would imagine the Exige is the same. And I like that car a lot, too.

Z06 is also amazing and balls out in all categories. Its a tough call.

You already have the E39 M5...so I would probably go Cayman S.

I didn't realize Exige Ss were $60k ...

You can get a used Elise for about $30k with 10k miles (probably hard MF'n miles though).

I'd rather have the Elise. I wouldn't feel bad at all about taking one to a track day. I might about a Cayman or Z06. Just cost too much money to risk IMO.

for a non-professional driver, i hear the cayman s is more enjoyable than a carrera. personally, i think it looks better too.
