Cash for Clunkers

http://autos.yahoo.com/articles/auto...nkers-program/

After reading this it made me wonder If my TL every again needed a replacement tranny would I be better off trade it in for Newer vehicle. Since they are offering $3,500-4,500 voucher toward new or 04+ use vehicle. Cause I know TL with bad tranny or dead broke TL it's resale value is under 3K. Only bad part is starting over an having to make payment.

What would you do?

Congress approved a "cash for clunkers" program Thursday to provide government incentives of $3,500 to $4,500 to motorists who trade in their gas guzzlers for more fuel efficient vehicles after Senate Democrats narrowly defeated a Republican effort to kill the plan.
I think they only offer the incentive for new cars, not used. This sounds like something I would do if I was thinking about getting a new car

yea i thought it only applies to new vehicles. And well it basically depends how many miles you have on ur acura, the more u have the more maintenance you have to do. Also problems are more likely with higher mileage. If u can get a good deal on a car and u can afford the payments do it! This bill is suppose to help our economy and make people buy new cars

Plus in the fine print the vehicle you buy has to get at least 4 mpg higher than the one you are getting rid of.

I've been following this bill and it passing benefits me. I've been looking to buy a car for a long time, and now I'm thinking of going new. I have a 1984 V8 F-150 that gets 11 mpg . Any car over 22 mpg would qualify for a $4,500 voucher. Now to decide on what new car to get. I had thoughts of BMW, but only the 128 and 328 automatic trannys get 22 mpg; the manuals get 21. The TSX 6-speed is a good option... I just want Acura to get that stupid ping problem under control! I'll keep looking around.

Hopefully the 2010 4-bangers have been fixed. Maybe we'll get some new owners signing up with reports of good news for you.

My mom wants to try to push my aunt to replace her old Mazda6. I think it's 16 years old or something like that.
