Cars that are 15+ years old and still look current
Someone down the block from me just purchased a used 1994 Mitsubishi 3000GT. I've always like that car and started thinking... Wow this car still looks current in 2011 even though it is a 17 year old design. So it got me thinking that it would be fun to have a thread where everyone pointed out a car whose body style is at least 15 years and still looks "current". Here's my submission.

I think the McLaren is a pretty good example.
The Diablo would also be an honorable mention if it weren't for the 6.0 VT that ended its reign; that particular model really modernized the Diablo styling & still looks new despite being a decade old now.

Nah. The pop-up headlights ruin it. Have to go to a 2002 for the NSX to look current. Don't get me wrong a 1991 NSX still looks great, but it does not look "current".
Also, I was hoping to keep this list to more affordable, average joe cars. Say a $50,000 cap. Sure, a lot of the exotic high-end cars are typically ahead of their time and would make this list, but what about the more common cars.
I agree with the 300ZX.
That's exactly the sort of thing I was thinking of.

I agree, the pop-up headlights on older NSXs doesn't make it look current, BUT, I'd rather have an older one than a newer one with the exposed headlights. Just personal preference; I love pop-up headlights.
Z32 is a timeless design. Diablos used their headlights.

3000GT looks dated to me when I see them on the roads.

To be fair though, the main difference between a 1991 and a 2002 is the headlights. The rest of the body still follows that general design introduced in 1991 and carried through all the way to 2006.

I would say e38, but the only version of it that really qualifies is the 01 with the sport package. The 840ci has a interior from 1989, and the same goes for the beautiful 993.
With exception to a precious few supercars I really think that 2011 design is very different from 1996. While I know people will ask if a well taken care of 840 or NSX is brand new (in other words the layman). I think that a hypothetical person who knows the current generation well, but lacks model specific knowledge of the 90's (but still has a general idea) would be able to tell the difference.

i love the legend design... and it IS timeless..
but not current imo..
the bumper signals, the antenna on the rear quarter, headlights seperate from turning signals... protective stripping around bumpers and doors..
all reminiscent of the 90's...
but a beautiful car for sure....
being that is the only part of the car that tells its age, the pre-facelift NSX would still sell today, WITH the flip up headlights or not. price allowing of course.

One of the biggest indicators for me is the size of the greenhouse.
And in the case of the Legend, which is indeed timeless is that the greenhouse is enormous compared to cars today.
There are no cars under $50k that look "current" but there are certainly cars that still look good.

some people are confused between Current and Better.
i can't really think of any 199x cars that look like they are from 2011.

I just remembered, a member of a local forum that has a NSX was posting in a thread about clean cars or something like that and he posted a bunch of pics of your car saying how it's the cleanest NSX he's ever seen (or pics of). I was thinking Wait I have seen these before haha

funny, i saw a white 94 3gt on thursday and thought to myself, man that thing is starting to get dated....mostly because my best friend in HS had a white 93 VR4 in 2002 that didnt seem dated then, which was astonishing because the car was already 9 years old at the time.
I liked someone's nomination of MK4 Supra. Body style from 1993 and it looks pretty current to me.

Agreed with Sarlacc. I owned 3G Prelude, loved that car. But it definitely looked like it came from the late 80's. In the good sense
