cabin filter

Taking 04 TL in for service thursday car has 32K on it. Dealer wants to replace cabin filter to the tune of $100. Is this out of line? Or is this something I shoukd be able to handle with a little help from my all knowing ACURA guru's on this super site? All help and advice is welcome. Either this filter is made of silk or the car has to be taken apart to replace it Thanks in advance.

The glove box has to be removed, along with a number of clips and tabs around it, to access the filter. Yes, the dealer will charge you an hour ($100) for 20 minutes or so of work.

Moog-Type-S ^^ posted a DIY thread; there are others in the 3G forum with photos (with and without cutting the glove box area) for DIY.

Thanks Moog-Type-S and Will Y. I might be better served to let the experts handle this. Plus it's my wife's and if screw it up it would be worth $ 200 not to here about it.

First time I did this on my TSX it took about 5 minutes. Second time, about 1 minute. It's super easy. If you buy the part at a dealer, they'll try to charge $80 (around here at least).
I've bought the filters for my TSX through eBay both times. One was from Acura of Escondido in CA, the other time was another Acura dealer in CA. Both times I paid about $20 - for an OEM part from a Acura dealer.

Purchased a Fram Freshbreeze cabin filter PART # CF10134 from Farm and Fleet in Madison WI this afternoon for $18.99. Install was fast and easy thanks to this great site, 20 min at the most and to think ACURA dealer wanted $100 to do this is like Jesse James without a gun. Hey thanks guys for the info and help, now i don,t need the 16 yearold that csmeance was refering to. At being 50 something i can say i,m as smart as a teenager now. Thanks again for the help happy breathing !
