Gotta love when companies use your car to sell their products. I had that happen to me
A nicely worded email resulted in them purchasing the pics

besides the obvious of having a gorgeous car, I was wondering if you could give an update about how happy you are with your purchase and maybe touch on a few things like reliability, overall function of the interior, quality of the build, how many miles have you put on, regular maintenance, mpg (not that it matters if your buying a sports car), any problems/recalls/tsb's, just a good review over the time you've had it.
I'd appreciate a review from a true tuners perspective rather than car and driver or road and track.

I'm pretty happy with the Genesis Coupe when I don't really think about the GenCoupe community (I'll get to this a littler later). For the price you can buy it for, it is pretty good for a new car, good amount of power and RWD. Its just a matter of fact, too some, of getting over the Hyundai name. But then again, for the price of one, I could have gotten a E46 M3 or even early 90's NSX.
A few things do come to my mind though over the time I've had this car.... lol.. it will be a bit unorganized..
The stock shifter feel was nice. It was a bit more sportier than the Acura cars i've driven but I did have occasional problems trying to shift into gears. Not sure why this was.. maybe it was me? but there has been threads on the subject. Putting in the TWM short shifter was probably the best thing I could have done so far and it did help out with the problems shifting into the gears.
My driver seat does have squeaking issues when my body sorta hops due to a bump in the road. I've been told there is a possible fix for this problem but I haven't looked into it. It doesn't bother me so much since most of the time, it is only me in the car.
Someone's video of theirs
I'm on my 2nd front bumper right now. IMO, the bumper is pretty weak. My old one kinda warped in on the bottom due to coming out of steep driveways. There would be a slight crease on the bumper edge where it holds the fender lining inside. I wish I had a picture to show... The fender lining that clips onto the bottom of the bumper needs more than just two... tiny.. clips
The interior is rather simple. I have the Navi model.. Changing stations is easy and so are climate settings and so forth. The navi is pretty simply to use and the bluetooth works great for me. I've read a few people having issues with linking their Android and Apple phones. The Navi screen is your only screen to show your radio and climate.. I believe the non Navi model is really really simple.. I do love the push start feature that I have. OH!!!! why isn't there a coin holder or something!!. WTF?!?! lmao. They need like.. something more than just cup holders for 2 cups...... lmao.
Like I said early somewhere in my thread... back seats are completely useless unless you're 5'4" and shorter or something..
I've put on about 20,800~ miles since 12/12/09 and I haven't really come up to major maintenance other than oil changes. The oil filter for the 3.8 is a cartridge type and so....... $14 for a new cartridge from local dealer (I bought a box full online for $10 each + $7~ shipping for the box) ..... I can't really say about MPG but I did have a time when I got around 24-27 mpg from mixture of city to hwy.
People did have problems with random creaking issues in body panels but so far, I haven't come across one yet and hope I don't in the near future
As for TSBs/Recalls, I don't really know. They do have a site where you can check EVERYTHING though. http://hmaservice.com/
Other than that... It's been good to me. lol The build of the car is nice for what you get... It is a 1st gen model of its kind so I do expect to have problems here and there. But so far it hasn't given me any serious problems.
Now.. for the community... they're all about stance, stretch, poke, slam and etc.. all that sort of stuff.. Same ol wheels for everyone and same lip kit or aftermarket bumper here and there.
Performance support for the 3.8 isn't that great. Only shop cars will do F/I setups or LSX motor swaps just to show that they can. No F/I setup will ever be sold due to the public since it is mainly out of the majorities finances....
this is the kinda posts that turns away companies like Koni...
I can't see these selling well until the price comes down significantly. With full coilover kits at 800 bucks, these don't really make sense.
Sorry to be the downer
Sorry to be the downer
so yea....
any other questions that I haven't answered?? lol.. i am pretty sleep right now.
probably longest post i've ever made without having tons of pictures.. lol..

I actually think the headlights look good.
The taillights on the other hand..... um, yeah.
That creaking seat would drive me crazy.

That's an excellent and honest review, and I personally appreciate it. I was in the market at one point, and decided to stick with my TL. I'm very happy I did...I still think the genesis is gorgeous but wasn't into spending the money on it.

Nice review! My seats can be the same, the legacy over all was built as a squeaky ass car, I just drown it out with some music.
Kind of stinks about the F/I not coming around, $800 for a full coil kit is a good price and very very affordable. :\.
Headlights look good honestly, maybe because it's just one halo, but the tails are nothing but a fail.

however.. stock track suspension setup has little to no shock travel... so thats what the BC Racing felt like.. it was decent for just looking cool and time by time spirited driving..
but it also felt like.. no shock travel.. almost as if riding on bump stops with really really high spring rates.
#418
any of those coils can get you what you're aiming for. lol
but i know you're not.
i'm just sad this is what all I get to play with.. lol

So, the GenCoupe is getting a new 2.0T engine, huh? Heard the specs are awesome.
#421
all I keep hearing about is the new 3.8 V6 GDI motor.
I am sort of jealous.. lol "333 horsepower and a peak torque of 291 lb.-ft"
edit: ok, i found an article about it.. impressive. lol so they're putting in the Sonata's 2.0T motor into the genesis.. lol
The South Korean automaker also updated the Genesis Coupe's base engine, replacing the current model's 2.0-liter turbocharged-four that produces 210HP and 223 lb-ft of peak torque, with the Sonata Turbo's Theta 2.0 TCi featuring a larger radiator intercooler and a twin-scroll turbocharger. The new 2.0-liter turbo churns out 275-horsespower and 38kg.m (275 lb-ft or 372Nm) of peak torque.
what does a TL motor put out? lol
The 3.5-liter, VTEC® V-6 engine produces 280 horsepower and 254 lbs.-ft. of torque

Nice review. But Im actually surprised by your thoughts on the shifter. I heard from many people that the shifter is very sloppy.
#424
i've also tried the recent WRX and that was about it.. compared to that, the feel was sportier.. stiffer.. but i can see why people said it was sloppy, probably due to the problems getting it into the gears?
I really can't say much since the short shifter was one of the more earlier mods and haven't gotten a lot of time on the stock one.
#425
I really appreciate that review. I've never completely taken a gen coupe off the table, no matter what I look at. Same as the speed6, z06, tl shawd, elise, a6, isf, and si...yea yea I know i'm all over the place. I also looked up used cl63's today.
any how, thanks again, beautiful car.

lol... haven't updated this in awhile....
i'm coming up on 24,000 miles now in less than 200 miles... lol.. the Powered by Max coilover has been holding up really well and it will probably be my most favored setup so far.. Car has no real major problems yet other than needing the usual maint. and another alignment. Driver seat leather has some minor deterioration from me getting in and out....
DC Sports got me test pipes some few months ago but I never really got a video recorded of it or anything with the exhaust system. Currently, just AEM cold air, DC sports test pipe (replaces front pipes and secondary catalytic converters) and cat back exhaust.
Its a fairly quiet exhaust compared to the others ones out in the market.. pricing for the exhaust pieces are pretty good imo..
My friend purchased a GoPro HD from another friend of mine and I got to play with it a little.. so... you won't really see much in my video.. lol
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vx-G-...ature=youtu.be
if anyone wants to know my current average mpg.. i'm getting like 19.2 right now.. mainly local street driving.. however, on my last 1 hour 20 min drive down to Oceanside (70~ mile trip) gave me avg 26 mpg just cruising at about 65 mph.
