Actually a pretty good deal for a Type-S 6MT with under 70,000 miles on the clock.

I think if it was a situation where I needed a new car I would have thrown down enough to get it. It otherwise would have been a purchase to keep until the 04 finally stops.

OK, I get it. 1 of 1k examples in the US market. But almost $31k for this?

That's a pricey bit of nostalgia right there ....

I would love to own one of those but agree the prices they have started to command is crazy. Agree a TT Supra is a better purchase at this point.

Geez, for that money I could buy a 2005 E46 M3 with the ZCP package; maybe my brain is bent or something, but WAAAAY more desirable.

Turn of the century Japanese cars are skyrocketing in value right now. All the people who weren't of age back in the F&F days are now all able to afford these things so the values are through the roof.

^ - Of course its going to be subjective and based largely on personal preference

For me - having owned a 94 TT Supra and an Integra (granted not a Type R but I did drop in a jdm motor and tranny, upgrade to Type R brakes, etc) and loving both cars...I'd hunt for another Supra. Although if I had the space and had permission to car shop (I've since gotten married) I'd just focus on an NSX...although that probably supports your of age comment.

True - but at least I recognize the Integra shouldn't be in that category

Bonhams has not disclosed the estimated price, but given that it sold Ayrton Senna's 1993 Monaco Grand Prix-winning McLaren-Cosworth Ford MP4/8A for €4,197,500 ($5,015,609) last year, somewhere north of $5 million can be expected.

Regarding the ITR, it's not necessarily desirability but rarity. ITRs get swapped, modded, abused, stolen and stripped clean. Championship white is probably the most desirable color as well.

“As new” Ferraris from the Ming Collection and several other modern supercars have been consigned to RM Sotheby’s Monterey Auction, the sales company has announced.

A 2006 Ferrari FXX, one of 30 track-only developmental prototypes based on the Ferrari Enzo and “presented from its original owner and representing the first example to come to public market in several years.” The car has recently been serviced and was on the track only once, at Ferrari’s Fiorano circuit during its delivery event. The car comes with three FXX Programme travel cases containing factory track support equipment as well as an unused factory race suit and helmet. RM Sotheby’s expects the car to sell for $2.85 million to $3.25 million.

A 1991 Ferrari F40 with Ferrari Classiche Certification confirming its numbers-matching status. The two-owner car has been part of the collection for nearly 20 years and driven only 1,705 miles since new. ($1.5 million to $1.8 million).

A 1984 Ferrari 512 BBi that still has original factory plastic delivery film on its door sills and has been driven only 2,500 miles ($350,000 to $425,000).

A 1985 Ferrari 308 GTSi driven only 4,000 miles by its two owners. ($100,000 to $150,000).

A 2007 Ferrari F430 Spider F1 purchased new by the Ming Collection. ($200,000 to $250,000).

A 2013 Ferrari 458 Spider with such custom options as Novitec springs, Akrapovic exhaust and carbo-fiber dash pods. ($225,000 to $275,000).

A 1997 Ferrari 355 Spider driven only 704 miles. ($125,000 to $150,000).

Also on the docket from other consignors are an “as-new” 2014 Ferrari LaFerrari ($3 million to $3.4 million); a pair of 2005 Porsche Carrera GTs, one in Metallic Orange and still showing original delivery mileage on its odometer (1.2 million to $1.5 million), and the other in Silver Metallic with Ascot Brown interior ($650,000 to $725,000); a 2009 Bugatti Veyron 16.4 with only 1,200 miles driven ($1.1 million to $1.3 million); and a “nearly new” 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish Zagato Volante driven only 13 miles ($750,000 to $900,000).

Want to own one of the most significant race cars on the planet? You'll soon get the chance: Michael Schumacher's V-10-powered Ferrari F2002 Formula 1 car, which he used to secure his fifth driver's title, is coming up for auction via RM Sotheby's in November 2019.

...

RM Sotheby's doesn't list an estimated sale price on its site, though if it does as well as Schumacher's 2001 championship-winning car sold in 2017, expect it to go for somewhere north of $7 million.

https://www.bmwblog.com/2019/06/18/y...formula-1-car/

It’s basically a piece of history, as this 2007 F1.07-06B car was driven by a couple of well known drivers back then. The most famous now is Sebastian Vettel, who drives for Ferrari today and has since claimed four titles in Formula 1. The car was also driven by Nick Heidfeld and Robert Kubica, both of them more than decent drivers back in the day. And before you get too excited about the prospect of buying this car, a few notes have to be made.

The ad doesn’t exactly say this car was one of those used in the competition which could point to the fact that it was, instead, used in development. Furthermore, it doesn’t have an engine right now, but everything else is still in place. Therefore, you still get the transmission, engine frame, suspension, fuel tank and even the original steering wheel, which is nothing to scoff at. The ad also claims the car is in Switzerland at the moment and it looks like an engine could be provided if you can afford it.

Speaking of which, there’s no price tag listed on the website but those interested in such rarities can definitely afford to pay whatever a 2007 Formula 1 car could be worth. The market for older and newer F1 cars is apparently on the rise so some people might view this as an investment.

LS swap it.

Btw, anytime I see past F1 cars, I realize how gigantic and ugly the new cars are.

The Ferrari is worth bidding on since it puts you into an elite clientele within' Ferrari and they'll help keep the car running/teach you how to drive it.

The BMW though, is a nice art piece. Even if you could source the engine, I'd be surprised if BMW would offer any help at keeping it running. They've been out of the game 10 years now and sold the team back to Sauber.

Neighbor at our old house had a '92 Silver 348 Spider & '99 Yellow 355 F1 Spider in his garage.

We moved before I got a chance for a passenger lap in them. Should cruise back by there

Collection of seven-figure exotics seized from the son of an African ruler is heading to auction.

Supercars come up for auction all the time. Hypercars, rather less frequently. But here we have six coming up for grabs, and they were all owned by the same person.

The eminently impressive collection includes a Lamborghini Veneno, Koenigsegg One:1, McLaren P1, Ferrari LaFerrari, Aston Martin One-77, and Bugatti Veyron. Not far off, in short, from the collection we'd want to amass for ourselves if we had the money and the chance to acquire them. And while we may not have the means, here at least the opportunity is presenting itself for those who do.

The rarest and most valuable of them, the Lamborghini Veneno is one of only nine such roadsters made, and has just 202 miles on the clock. It's estimated to sell for €4.5-5 million. The 620-mile hybrid LaFerrari is valued at €2.3-2.5 million. The Koenigsegg is an extreme take on the Agera and dubbed as the world's first mega-car (thanks to its megawatt of power) has just 370 miles on it, and is projected to sell for €1.6-2 million. The hybrid McLaren (like the Ferrari) also has just 620 miles on the clock but is valued at €1.3-1.6 million.

The Aston is one of just 77 made, related to the Vulcan track car but designed for the road, and is estimated at €1.2-1.6 million. Only in such company could the Veyron be relegated to the bottom, thanks largely to the ~1,900 miles it's accrued, valued at €600-800k.

There'll be a handful of Bentleys, Maybachs, Maseratis, and Porsches on offer as well – all from the same collection. The entire lineup belonged to one Teodorin Obiang Nguema, son of the president of Equatorial Guinea. The cars were seized by Swiss authorities back in 2016 due to misappropriation of state funds.

Bonhams will auction off this latest collection at the Bonmont Golf & Country Club near Geneva on September 29, with the proceeds earmarked towards social programs back in Equatorial Guinea.

[H]ave a look at this 1991 Mercedes Benz 300DG Geländewagen. I mean, these things are practically ageless, am I right? They’ve been part of our automotive lexicon for seemingly forever, and it probably wouldn’t be a surprise to start wrenching on one only to find it infested with Trilobites or some other sort of prehistoric delicacy.

...

That’s a 3-litre OM603 SOHC diesel six, which should prove fairly entertaining and a good bit more fuel efficient than a twin-turbo V8. It only produces 110 horsepower here, but with a bit more than 140 lb-ft of torque, it will get you out of trouble most of the time. That’s by way of a manually managed 4WD system with front, middle and rear locking diffs that can put its limited output where it’s needed.

...

The truck comes with 180,000 miles on the clock and the seller claims that everything works as it should and is complete, stating:

It starts immediately, runs strong, and shifts smooth and timely. The steering is tight and the suspension is controlled and supple. It brakes well without pulling or pulsations. Climate Controls work as intended. Air blows out the appropriate vents. First Aid Kit, Spare, and Jack included. Seats are firm and door locks are fast and responsive. All options working including all windows and door locks.
There’s no mention in the ad as to when the Benz made the trek from Spain to America’s east coast, but it’s here now and with what’s claimed to be legal import papers and a clear Maryland title. It’s a two-owner vehicle and with its $22,500 asking it’s seeking to stretch that record to three.

Manual G-Wagen, aka a real one and not some trust fund douchebag's daily driver on 22s. Is that what they actually go for, though?

Maybe if it was in absolute, mint condition. The market here isn't strong enough to draw huge interest. He'll be with it til' 200,000 miles if he sticks to that price b/c there's absolutely nothing special about it other than being an old, manual G-Wagen that was imported from Spain.

Would be cool to have, but not for that price.
Likely to easily go to extreme mileage, based on my experience with the OM616 (2.4l I4 N/A) & OM617 (3.0 I5T) diesels in a 240D & 300SD, both of which were running strong (albeit slowly) at over 300k.

It saddens me that all these cars that are designed for all out speed and performance are pushed to the back of a climate controlled garage to just be looked at.

Agreed; the only thing which saddens me even more is when owners of these cars drive them, get in over their heads, and wreck the car (often killing someone in the process).

Sometimes it’s tough to remember that there was a time when the Mercedes G-Class was considered a raw utility vehicle that could tackle almost any obstacle instead of a status symbol. Until you come across this gorgeous military-spec W461 pickup truck and it all comes back.

This is a 1993 250GD W461, the very rare single-cab pickup truck version of the G-Class, created mainly for military use. It’s powered by the virtually indestructible OM602 five-cylinder diesel that’s paired to a four-speed manual gearbox with a low range transfer box.

The seller has added a turbo kit which supposedly “makes a huge difference in power”, along with a bigger pump. Four-wheel drive is of course present, as are locking differentials on both axles.

Despite being an ex-army vehicle, the truck appears to be in a truly excellent condition, with all the body panels arrow straight and not a hint of rust anywhere. Of course the relatively low (for its age) mileage might have to do something with that, as the truck has covered just 38,663 km (around 24k miles).

The spartan interior is worlds apart from what the G-Class gets these days, but it’s got a totally different kind of appeal: the seats are finished in hard-wearing vinyl, the door cards are as plain as they can get, while if you want music for the road, you’d better start singing or use your smartphone – there’s no radio installed. The only concession to creature comforts is an under-dash air-conditioning system.

The long bed comes with three drop-down sides and there’s a spare wheel mounted between it and the cab. A set of original 16-inch steel wheels wrapped in off-road ready tires complete the original looks.

Arguable the most utilitarian iterations of the G-Class, this 250GD, which is located in Utah, is offered for sale on eBay for a rather cool $62,000. Sure, you can always get a brand new Jeep Gladiator, but that’s nowhere near as exclusive (or heritage-rich) as the Merc.

The 'added' turbo kit could be an OE unit, since the OM602 was offered in turbo-guise in the W201 190D. Too clean to be a working truck or off-road toy, and at $60k, too expensive too.

Any time one of the 106 McLaren F1s in existence come up for sale, it's an event, but this one is even more special. Auction house RM Sotheby's announced todaythat McLaren F1 chassis 018 will be up for bidding at its Pebble Beach event next month. It's one of just two F1s modified by McLaren into "LM specifications."

The LM specification included what McLaren called an "Extra-High Downforce Kit," and a hotter version of the F1's BMW-designed 6.1-liter V-12. Basically, it's an unrestricted race engine, making around 680 horsepower verses the standard F1's 627. The car was also upgraded with 18-inch OZ Racing center-lock five-spoke wheels like those used on the F1 GTR race car.

Originally, this F1 was painted dark blue, but when its second owner sent the car back to McLaren for the LM-specification upgrades, he had it repainted in the current shade of Platinum Silver Metallic. The interior was re-trimmed, too, with lots of cream leather and Alcantara—a nice contrast to the racy spec of the car. Interestingly, that second owner had the car fit with a Kenwood radio. Famously, the F1's designer, Gordon Murray, didn't listen to the radio, so the cars were originally equipped only with a custom-designed Kenwood CD changer.

Since it originally left the McLaren factory in 1994, F1 018 has only been driven 13,352 miles. In its 25 years of existence, it's been back to McLaren Special Operations for maintenance work many times, which is typical of an F1. Since 2007, the car has lived in New Zealand under the care of Andrew Bagnall, who was featured in a video produced by McLaren back in 2017.

It's hard to put an exact price on this car. Last year, RM Sotheby's listed a high-downforce kit-equipped F1 for sale with an asking price of $22 million, though the final sale price was never reported. RM Sotheby's estimates that this one will sell for between $21 and 23 million. The last public auction of a McLaren F1 was at Pebble Beach in 2017, where chassis 044 sold for $15.6 million. F1s have climbed in value significantly since then, and the rare specs on chassis 018 could push it towards the $25 million mark.

We'll be watching closely when it crosses the block in a month.
