Bought new car from dealer, but has some bad online service reviews, do you still go?
i live in nyc and i bought my vehicle new (2009 tsx) from a dealership in jersey.
the roundtrip commute without traffic would take me roughly 2.5-3h.. with traffic? shit... 4-5h... not to mention the tolls cost me $18 + gas.
i feel some obvious loyalty to this dealership, and i had a very good experience sales wise.
the car has about 1.1k miles on it and i need to get some things checked out under warranty.
valet trunk lock recall
misaligned trunk (right side isn't 100% flush)
and intermittent squeaking brakes
when i made the appt over the phone, the service guy was really nice and assured me that they will be able to fix everything (or at least try).
but my dealership hasn't gotten the best reviews for service...
so, would you guys go, or should i try a dealer closer to home? this way if i'm disappointed i won't be bitching about the $18 tolls and extra gas .
FYI, dealership is open road acura of wayne

I'd give them a try. Usually only people with bad experience are gonna say anything. Good service is expected and most people won't bother to say anything if the service is good. I'd give them one shot.

I'd use them until they fuck up. If they do, just give them a bad review on their service survey and find a new dealer for service. Or, just find one close to home now.
FWIW I never used the dealer I bought my car from for service. I bought my last two Acura's as Curry Acura, but used Park Ave Acura in NJ for service. The commute from my house was about the same, so I didn't drive any further and got treated like a king at Park Ave. Not sure how they are now, but back in the day Park Ave was the bomb...

What Would Don Draper Do?
i wouldn't put too much thought on the reviews. typically, people that have bad experiences are more likely to post reviews.
i think the commute is too long, personally.
and i also don't take my car to the dealer i bought from and certainly don't have any kind of loyalty to them.

I also wouldn't put too much stock in online reviews of dealerships, people online, as a whole, like to bitch and the internet is a great outlet for them to use to complain. Rarely will someone go out of their way to write a review about a good experience.

Think about this way. If you buy a car and you have a great experience do you go online and post it? However, if you have a bad experience what are the odds your going to want to vent? I think in general people complain on reviews more than they complement.
Edit: I didnt notice the distance.
However, reviews aside that is too long a drive. Find a local dealer to like. So ignore my vote.

I am assuming you looked at other dealerships reviews to see if they also have a lot of bad reviews, otherwise how would you know if they had less than average?
I would not go to someplace with a high number of bad reviews, because I do not want to be the next one. Throw in that this one is far away, and I vote you find one closer to home.

I think it depends on what the reviews are about. I work at a dealership and we have people complain all the time. Sometimes the complaints are valid and you're going to have those because it is impossible to please every single person in a customer oriented business. A lot of times though people will complain about things they dont understand.
One example is that we had a guy trade a car in and he complained that we had the car marked up $4K higher than what we traded it for. So he felt the need to call the GM and make complaints online. What he didnt know was the we had to put almost $3K worth of work into his car in order to retail it because he dogged it so bad.

I'm with everyone else. A 2.5 hour drive... minimum... is just too far.
However, if they were closer, I'd give them the benefit of the doubt and take it in for service just to see.

Anyway, I don't understand how it takes you 4 hours to get to Wayne from NYC. Are you driving through CT first or something? LOL
To answer your question, I'd still go to a dealer with some bad online reviews. I bet every single dealer has at least one unhappy customer.
