Bought a 2016 Cadillac ATS awd V6 premium. Love this thing!

Even though it's been some years since I have owned my 2007 TL Type S 6mt, I still lurk on these forums from time to time. I figured since it's somewhat of a similar car to what Acura has to offer it might be worth mentioning for those looking at buying something in the future. Before this ATS I had a 2015 Grand Cherokee Overland High Altitude, and before that was my 6mt Type S. I really never considered a Cadillac as the ones that would have interested me (the V series and V Sport models) were all RWD and too expensive and I want AWD being in the Midwest. Before doing my research I had no idea just how well optioned you can get an ATS. Most of the ones you see on the street are relatively base. I stumbled upon a 2016 awd V6 premium with every possible option and then some. The price was shockingly low for what it was so I pursued it. With only 3,400 miles it was in new condition. I built a 2016 ATS on Cadillac.com equipped exactly like this one and it came out to have a $63,000 original msrp. I bought it for $35k!!!! It has things I didn't even know you can get on an ATS such as V Sport high performance brakes, OEM body kit, V suede steering wheel and shifter. I can't speak highly enough about this car. The handling is incredible, the 335hp V6 pulls hard and sounds sooo good, and the 8spd tranny is amazing...especially in sport mode. Interior build quality is surprisingly very good. High end leather and other materials, good fit and finish and very solid with no rattles. Before going into it I was a bit concerned about the Cadillac Cue system, but I read that for 2016 they made some changes and it works great, I love it. Apple CarPlay also works great. So the point of all this is you guys might just want to give Cadillac a consideration. I can't stress enough how awesome this car is and I almost feel bad for Cadillac that the cars aren't more popular as they really did make a good car. All the reviews I have seen say this car handles better than a BMW 3 series and I believe it.
Anyone here own a Cadillac or ever driven a higher trim level ATS? Might want to if you haven't. Can't get enough of this thing.

Those high end ATS models look great!

My good friend has a low trim ATS with the 2.0 turbo and its pretty fun to drive. The only thing I hate about it is riding in the backseat. Im only 5'9 and I have to duck down to avoid hitting the headliner.

Really great buy @ $35K. I had a ATS V6 6-sp. for a while.... loved the V6 engine , loved the handling.

Yes I agree, the backseat is a bit tight, more so for taller individuals. I have tried sitting in the back and all is ok with exception to head room. I am 6ft tall and I have to have my head straight up in that raised part behind the sunroof. Front seat room is great though and luckily I will never be riding in the back seat lol.

Great pick up! I drove a 2016 ATS-V coupe (black / black). Three words. O.M.G. It looks the part, sounds the part, and performs spectacularly. The salesperson encouraged me to get on it, and I obliged. The interior is visually appealing, and well appointed. I still don't think I could live with the CUE system, after playing with it. Ultimately, at $70K I'm priced out of this car; a new one anyway. Congrats on getting a great car! Enjoy.

Yeah the V is an amazing vehicle. I would love to have one but just couldn't have that as a daily driver. Unfortunately winter is a thing here and I wanted awd. Besides that, price is a factor for me as well. Even used it's still a 50 thousand dollar car. I feel the non V awd V6 is still a very good package. AWD with 335hp is no slouch, and I think it's now the same 8spd auto that's in the V. I have learned to really like the Cue system. I am more of a buttons and knobs kinda guy myself, but I had no problems learning this system as well as the touch panels with ease. I now actually really like it and find everything to work very well. All personal preference of course. Having this system now, and before this the highly rated Chrysler Uconnect 8.4 system in my 2015 Grand Cherokee, I can't stand using the Honda system in my wife's 2015 Odyssey. That is an aging platform at this point so I'm sure the Honda/Acura systems are better in more updated platforms.

Congrats on the ATS, I think they are good looking cars.. Enjoy..

From a fellow Caddy owner, I bought my CTS-V Coupe new 3-1/2 years ago and and aside from a couple of GM TSB's it has been rock solid.. I too was skeptical at first in regards to the reliability so I initially leased it figuring that if I ran into any major problems I would simply return it at lease end.

Well it came off lease last year and I immediately bought it.. Besides not having any problems ( I hope I didn't jinx myself ), after driving it for 3 years I grew too attached to it to let it go..

Congrats!! My friend recently leased a 2.0T Coupe that I had a chance to test drive. I'm really impressed with Cadillac nowadays, granted I've always had a soft spot for General Motors products. I liked the car but complained that it needed more power, I didn't like the lag. That V6 solves that!! I think you'll enjoy that car for years to come!!

Looks quite nice. Like the Kona Brown with the white exterior. Shame the manual trans isn't an option with AWD.

You'd be surprised how many current or former CTS-V owners there are on the forum including yours truly (although I'm a former owner). I'd say there's probably close to half a dozen that hang in Car Talk.

Great pickup on the ATS. Sweet little ride and that color is perfect for it!

Beautiful spec ATS! I almost bought a premium ATS but the price new was too high IMO. You bought it at the PERFECT time.

The ATS has to be that good because the new MB C-Class is an amazing little car.

Good deal! No one can argue with 50% off a practically new car.

LoL I know right? The good thing is, much like my most recent Type S, it will be hard to top this particular one for how it's equipped and the price I got it for. I think it's safe to say this will be the only one.

I wanted something different and the manual tranny sorta became a pain on the snowy days we have to deal with here during the winter. It was not good in the snow whatsoever, where as my automatic Type S was decent.

Well it wasn't quite 67k, but 63k if you include destination. I had no idea they could get that expensive as well.

Cadillacs these days are something else. The styling looks fantastic and you know the second you see a caddy, you're looking at one.

I hate to compare it to Acura, where often people say they "learn" to love their TLX, and in any event, generally gets lost in the masses.

You see a Caddy and chances are you love it instantly.

Alpha platform is great, superior drive to the F30. Can't say I'm a fan of the wheels and body kit on this one however.

Rented one. Never been as surprised with a car. The handling is phenomenal. You get excited for every opportunity to turn the wheel.

The rear seat was however on par with a 2nd gen Lexus IS. Very tight fit for an adult behind an adult.

I too feel bad for Cadillac. It's almost a sleeper car. While I do understand why you are raving about it, you probably wouldn't be raving as much if you bought it new at market value All of the positives you mentioned may not be expected from a non V, ATS...however may be expected from a 60k+ sedan with the interior size of a corolla.

cadillacs ATS offering is just a bit over engineered for what the market demands for a car like that with a caddy badge. Which is why 1. So many people are surprised by the handling, and 2. Someone like yourself is able to buy one at almost 50% of sticker with less than 5k miles.

But for that price, you done did good!!

Well let's be clear here, not even the original owner paid 63k for the car.... or probably anywhere near it for that matter. That's just a reference of the original msrp because I had no idea you can price out an ATS so high.

To what ThermonMermon said, I agree, I would never have paid that or anywhere in that range for an ATS. I wouldn't even spend that on an ATS V. Then again I wouldn't spend 63k on any car. I feel that it's a heck of a great car for 35k though. Mine dad bought his 2014 ATS awd V6 premium. Re for 38k. Not equipped as well as mine, but that's just an example of what it could be bought for new in some cases.
I told a coworker of mine about the ATS as he was looking for a 3 series, Lexus IS, or c class type of car. He actually went and looked at a ATS and really liked it. For 45k the c class doesn't even have a heated steering wheel or remote start. He was pretty disappointed in that, plus the new Mercedes have what looks like an iPad mounted on the dash wheel ch is awful looking IMO.

I have been bashing that thing for a while but we had a C-350 loaner this week and I must say... it works well. It's not as bad as it looks in pictures, nothing is blocked as far as view or access, and it integrates very well with the car's systems. I will have to admit that I was pleasantly surprised...

^ Also, it seems to be more in line with your natural line of vision.
I was in my dad's Duramax a couple weeks ago & caught off guard with how low the infotainment/NAV screen is in the dash.

Welcome to Cadillaczine. Bunch of Cadillac owners, including me, here. I've owned two CTS-Vs. I like the handling of the ATS, but that back seat is for midgets. That's the only bad thing I can say about the car.

You got a steal of a deal on that lightly used car! Good job!

Before my Vs, I never would have looked at Cadillac because I'm the original Honda homer/fanboi. Good thing I looked outside of Honda!
