This
Or This
But Not This
I think BMW designed the headlines with function only in mind as most sportsbikes with dual headlamps have one as a low beam and the other the high (like my ZX-R for instance). I think this design offers the wide range for the outer angles for the low beam without too much focus while the high beam offers the projector type high intensity beam. That's my guess, but whatever the rationale I'm not a fan; at least not yet anyway.

The more I see the BMW headlight design, the more I like it.
It's form following function.

Ya'know, looking at the photoshops posted, I like the BMW headlight design. The others make it look like every other bike on the road. I guess it was a way to establish an identity for the bike.
Oh yea, its also the MOST POWERFUL PRODUCTION BIKE!!! It's got more power then my first two cars.

Not sure how I missed this gem the first time around but I gotta say that I hope you are not a sales guy there, b/c if you spewed that crap at me when I walked in, I'd be walking out just as quickly
If you really think that Honda and Suzuki's, or many other brands, including other European brands get "thrown out" after 30k miles, you have a LOT to learn about motorcycles.
Off hand I know my uncle's Honda Special 900 has about 160k miles on it and still going strong. And that's just one of tens of thousands you'll find still running great with those kind of miles. I also know several Goldwing owners nearing the 110k miles mark. I also know many Suzuki SV's approaching 70k or more miles.
So I'd suggest you do some more research on that subject. Then eat before you talk...

Living the Dream
^I do agree with your comment.
But I think he was referring to sportbikes. People (read "kids") bash Japanese sportbikes pretty good.
People that purchase BMWs are typlically older/wiser. Or at least know what they are buying for the money, and it is quite a bit more money than your typical "ricer bike"
edit:
As soon as I submitted this, I read that this bike will be priced "within 10%" of the Japanese competition

Not a sales guy at all...Theres plenty of makes and models that go and just go, of coarse maintaining the bike is key. Perhaps I should have been more specific, sport bikes in general do not tend to last in the higher mileage as most people that have them beat them up and forget about them. I am not a motorcycle guru not a mechanic but I am surrounded in the lifestyle and live it everyday, I go by what I witness and real life experiences with people that invest into a long term motorcycle. Sorry if I offended you and your uncles Goldwing, there great bikes.
Yes, some people beat the crap out of their bikes and they do not last long... however, the average life cycle of a Japanese bike is the same as a European bike. I would even say that the Japanese may have an edge... plus, maintenance costs are lower on Japanese bikes.
Don't forget there are people who beat on their European bikes as well... so a blanket statement like the one you made is really not valid.

As far as the BMW, it's already racing if I'm not mistaken. So far it's been average with some good showings, but considering it's their first season and they're already doing OK, the bike should be very successful in the upcoming years.
