Okay, here's an update.
The dealer has agreed to fix the car and take it off of our hands. Our payoff was roughly what it was worth in trade, possibly a little higher. All aftermarket parts will be removed in anticipation of no-charge installation upon the new one's arrival, which could be as late as August. They'll continue to try to obtain one earlier, but at worst case, we're X-less for 4-5 months.
The gist is that they're willing to do what I asked of them - take this one, put us in a new one, swap the parts. While it's not free and will cost us some out of pocket, it's totally acceptable as we end up with a new car that's one year newer and actually in the color combo we looked for (white/black) before we settled for the blue/blue last year.

Cool. I think the fact that you handled the situation as calmly as you did helped alot in its resolution.
It's refreshing to see that you don't mind a little out of pocket to get into a new X... Most people would bitch and complain for a totally free ride...

yo, bigman, did that go down at Curry Acura? i remember one of your boys that had a 6spd Cl silver (not sure if its the same guy). when i was with curry, one of the techs just like pulled the car to the side of the lot, sat there, and revved the shit out of it just to hear the mods. i wouldnt be suprised if its the same guy
