Good for you. Accept the jobs and stick to driving on a track.

People who excessively speed on public roads are selfish and inconsiderate, in my opinion. We all must SHARE the road with you, so you should be more considerate of my personal safety.

As for your claimed driving abilities, I could care less if you were a freaking Lewis Hamilton clone - it's still stupid to drive that fast on a public road with the opportunity of passing other innocent drivers. If you fail to see that, that just proves my point.

Perhaps people wouldn't have flamed you so damn bad if you didn't start off your post with "Badass shot of me at 170mph". From the jump, you were cocky and arrogant.

Lose a loved one due to a moron driver and you might reconsider your position on this.

Nope, wasn't trying to come across cocky and arrogant. I really don't care to impress anyone. I was testing the car out in a situation as far away from towns and people as possible without traveling to Europe or a desert or renting a race track--since there wasn't one within a 500 mile radius. In the 3 hours I was out there, you know how many cars I saw? ...try ZERO. I saw a lot of groundhogs, sage brush, and a couple of snakes.

Just wanted to see if the M3 could hit close to the top of the speedo close to stock before I boost it.

Fair enough.

However, were you 100% positive you wouldn't have seen another vehicle prior to making your decision to make a 170 mph run?

Want to excessively speed and take the risk of killing yourself? Knock yourself out. However, bringing an innocent bystander or driver into the equation, which you easily could have, makes me seriously consider if you only care about yourself or if you really do care about those sharing the roads with you.

Actually we did scout the area out first for a couple of hours , but not for that reason at all. My youngest brother is an aspiring geologist (a Geology major at the University of Nebraska) and we were out there because he wanted to collect rocks. We just went out there and parked on the sides of the road at various places and saw not a soul. Off topic, but the sky at night on the way back was unreal...unlike any I've ever seen. Stars for as far as you can see.

I have no problem if you are in the middle of fucking nowhere and want to open the car up. That is totally different than some idiot doing 90 in a 25. I drove across Nevada on highway 50 a few years ago and passed exactly three cars after I was 30 min past Reno.

That's my point. There was nobody around.

I am not a crazy driver period. I don't drift, drag race, or street race on public roads, especially in major cities. However, while I was in Nebraska, the small towns were SO small that a group of us could go out and race and even the cops would not give a damn..they would watch in fact and make sure we weren't being completely stupid.

I am almost 30 years old, and have gotten exactly two traffic tickets in my life. One was a failure to yield when I missed a yield sign- and that one got tossed out because the sign was obscured by low branches on a tree
The second was for my car stereo being too loud. That's it.

Doing 170 mph is plain stupid on public roads, even when no one is around. US highways aren't built for high speeds. If you want to go fast, do it at the track.

Well, this thread is going nowhere.

And that comment of him being offered jobs at those Magazines, good for you. Doesn't give you the right to speed on public roads.

Good job! I have nothing against what you did where you did it. If you had said it was on a populated interstate that would be different. Some of these people need to get off their high horses and get out of the city once and awhile and see that there are places in this country where the roads CAN support these speeds safely when/with no one around.

When I was in college, I started a speed shop in Nebraska. When it got fairly successful in the late 90s, I was fortunate and ran into a wise financial planner (and listening to Clark Howard -those of you who know who he is can understand paid off!) and invested wisely. All the money I made plus the funds I received when I sold the shop got invested in stocks and mutual funds. Plus, I have two degrees , one in Biotechnology and one in Chemistry. I work for a biotech company as a research geneticist currently which pays pretty well

I used to have an 03 CL Type S that I gave to my bro last year. I loved the CL-S and didn't want to sell it after I got the M3 and the E55. So we gave it to him as a gift for keeping his grades up and doing well in school!

I've had several supra's but I wrecked my last one last fall. I haven't purchased one since...I put 5k down on the new GT-R..one of my friends works at a Nissan dealership and he has me in line for one..but he doesn't know if the owner will sell it for sticker or auction the car off.

The woman drives the E55 mostly

As far as my 240s, I've posted pics up in a different thread but if you want i'll post a few of them up again.

I know, I know. Nissan has implored the dealerships not to mark it up too much. Last year, I was close to purchasing a legalized R34 Skyline GTR..an old motorex car. I couldn't get my hands on it since the owner of that particular car ended up selling it to a close friend of his. So I didn't buy anything...good thing now, because the new one will be cheaper. I'm willing to pay up to about 75 grand for it...anything higher and i'll just buy a 911.

Here are some pics..some of these are reposts, I apologize for. My S13 240 is in Nebraska torn down getting head work done..the current head won't flow enough air so it's getting a Tomei Stage 4 head.

M3:

S14 240:

engine for 240 sitting in garage- RB26DETT from an R33 GT-R:

E55, a pic I took in Florida last year:

The S13 i'll try to get my bro to send me pics...in some ways it's sweeter than the S14...it has massive wilwood brakes, Volk TE-37 time attacks, professionally sprayed flat black, has the Kouki S13 bumpers and side skirts...it's pretty mean looking.

lol..it's NOT laguna seca blue...it's actually a custom color. The original color was topaz blue metallic....I had it resprayed to a House of Kolors/PPG blend of Topaz blue with blue pearl ice (crushed glass) in the clear coat. It looks really dark in the shade and really bright under sunlight and street lights.

Laguna Seca blue is MUCH much lighter, more of a baby blue.

ahh just wanted to know cause at 2pm you won't be able to go 170mph at all in Chicago expressways because they're always either packed or you'll always run into construction.

lol... I just moved from Atlanta to Seattle so I know all about traffic in big cities. I'm not stupid enough to go near that speed in a city or on an interstate near one.
