Purchased and sold a few cars on eBay, never had a problem. Also got my motorcycle off of eBay.
As long as the seller has excellent feedback (and I mean excellent) and the pictures are detailed, you should be good to go. Most top quality sellers even have a phone number where you can talk to the seller to verify everything in the ad.

^exactly. Seller ratings are most important. I've bought a few cars on eBay when I was working at a dealership, never really had any bad experiences.
Sold a bunch of cars through them, it's a great marketing source.

Some Ebay sellers will not refund part of the money for resolving issues (after taking possesion of the car) unless you give them an excellent rating first. Take the 100% rating with a grain of salt.

I wouldnt say problems. but be prepared to expect the unexpected if you do.
we got a killer price on our 04 lexus lx470 - however, we found very LITTLE things that we couldnt really see on the pictures.
a 1x1 sq foot of leather was kinda ripped up, a pin on the bumper was loose, 3 lights on the dash were gone, and most annoyingly, the front passenger door dosnt respond to automatic locks, etc - it has to be manually locked and unlocked.
but for the price i think it was worth it, def.
just saying, be careful.

We've bought 2 vehicles on ebay (2 from wholesale dealers in Texas & 1 from private individual). My experiences w/the dealers was great. Check the seller's feedback. I only buy from sellers w/at least a 98% rating. If less than 100%, read the individual comments left by other buyers. Check the Carfax report. I really like the fact that you see the Carfax report on every car on ebay now.

I bought my 2003 TL-P off of E-Bay back in 2006. Got it for a great price with only 27K on the ODO and it looked brand new.
Some things I would recommend:
1. Buy only from a seller with a long track record.
2. Talk directly to the seller over the phone or in person.
3. Pull a CarFax report on the vehicle.
I live in WI and the car was located in Cleveland OH. I flew out, the dealer met me at the airport with the car, signed the paper work and I was home 8 hours later. BTW: The drive through northern IN is pretty nice. Chicago sucked though.

I've seen Autocheck catch stuff carfax didn't and carfax catch stuff autocheck didn't.
Either way, if it wasn't reported it's not on the report. Still should get a thorough inspection.

bought my 02' s10 off ebay in 07'. no problems, actually CLEANER than expected.
I drove 500 miles each way to get it. 1k miles total. So I had a chance to actually look it over real good and drive it before I bought it.
I would have been PISSED if it wasnt as described tho, and I made this VERY clear to the seller before I made the journey.
