B18C5 Civic Hatch

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Honda...ayphotohosting

seems too good to be true. I talked to the guy, sounds very nice and willing to go the extra mile to get the job done. What I don't understand is why the motor is so hybrid in nature. B18C5 block, GS-R tranny? My shop pointed out the SiR-II I/M. Looks great, but there's no way I'm going to just dive in.

This sounds really, really farfetched, but I was thinking if anybody lives in the Irvine area, would it be ok to go check the car out in free time? I'm willing to pay for your services. Thanks and I appreciate any feedback. I don't want this "opportunity", regardless of how awkward it is, to fall through.

I really don't see what's odd about the GSR tranny bolted up to the C5, pretty common actually as guys don't want to dump an arm and a leg for the type R tranny, and the gearing is better for some.

It's like how you see alot of boosted GSR's and Type R's w/ LS tranny's. THe LS has longer gearing that's more beneficial to turbo motors, and why you'll only see NA guys w/ the JDM R tranny because the gearing is real short (I'm talking like 5000 RPM at 80mph in top gear; fuck that)

I wish I had the GSR tranny when I had my type r motor. I hated that god damn thing on the freeway. A friend of mine put a GSR on his R motor and it made a huge difference.

i dont know man. not only did i feel something was fishy, but my shop as well.

-Location does not match up
-Parts are pretty mismatched if you ask me (SiR-II Intake Manifold, what is up with that header), shop says front end looks like its been in an accident.

Which is why I am hoping someone can take a look at it for me. Again he lives in Irvine, so if you live around there guys, I will send you some money.

Again the Type-R tranny is a pain on the highway. Like CLpower stated ~5k RPM to go 80mph is a bit too much, especially when you are using his loudass Tanabe racing medallion exhuast.

If you do pick this car up I gotta check it out.

he's willing to let it go for $5,000 to me, no less. as of right now, im not the highest bidder, but he appreciates the communication (and therefore seriousness).

ok here's what he has done...

B18C5, with Mugen header, Mugen P28 ECU, JE Cams. LSD tranny, but regardless of whether its from a GS-R or Type-R, that ECU kicks VTEC in @ 4,000 RPM! Highway driving is gonna suck, especially knowing I am probably going to drive back home from Cali!

I don't know the gas mileage this little hatch gets but with gas prices you might be better off to hire a trucking company to haul it. i had a buddy haul his his Audi out to Iowa for like 750 or a grand i think and it was in a box trailer they put a car cover on it. overall did a nice job.

he claims 20-25 MPG highway at speeds of 60-80 MPH. I'm not quite sure if VTEC would do that.

besides, it'd be cheaper than shipping anyway

^-it might be cheaper to fly into one of the other LA area airports...check out burbank, long beach, ontario (if the seller isnt just down the freeway from lax)
