Audi TT for '06 won't be sold in NY, CA....

For reasons of emissions, being that NY and CA have more strict emissions (and one other state, just forgot which one), the TT does not pass emissions standards in their '06 model TT. The '07 model will be all new, and will have the higher emissions standards. I don't know why Audi would do that now for a year, but that's what I found out the other day..

Maybe some emission law changed and the TT cannot be sold here. It kinda reminds me what happened with the Twin Turbo Supra back in the day.

What would stop someone from buying one in another state and bringing it into NY, MA or CA?

The other manufacturers (especially the germans) need to get their acts together and start making more fuel efficient and lower emissions vehicles. If Toyota and Honda can do it, why can't they?

You can't buy in another state and then bring it to CA unless you don't plan on registering the car.

You can buy the car, but once you try to do the emissions inspection, it will not pass, and you will be forced to take the car off the road. Dealers are aware of this and will not sell a NJ car to a NY customer because of it, etc...
