if i was spending that much i think i would look to a 911 Turbo... the R8 looks nice, but i would take the Porsche before it...

I have to agree with you...though a new 997TT will cost you about $20k more once loaded up nicely.
Anyone have performance specs on these things? Given today's choices of cars, 430hp is kinda low unless this thing weighs around 2900-3100 lbs - which I doubt given it is AWD. It does look pretty though.

Fantastic car. Been following this eagerly since rumors surfaced of production possiblilities after the LeMans concept. Been scouring the R8 forums and it seems like a lot of people have put down deposits for one. My uncle, a current 3.2TT owner, inquired about putting down a deposit on one at his local dealer in Phili, but they said they already had a few deposits, and we're only expecting 3 units initially.
I'm waiting for the targa version in 2009. If everything goes well, I'd like to get one not too long after that.
Undoubtedly many comparisons will be made to the 911GT3 and the 911TT. However, this car will sell on pure sex appeal alone, along with the fact that this thing is a true 21st century sports car, sporting fantastic styling, an aluminum space frame, clutchless manual, and a FSI motor that has the highest piston velocity for a production vehicle (edging out the S2000 ). Park an R8 next to a 911, and the 911 looks like a damned schoolbus.
I think the R8's closest competitor is the AM Vantage V8. Both drool sex appeal, and both have great character.

Hey Crazy Sellout: thanks for the pics. Looks like pics for the Las Vegas promo event. Do you happen to have pics of the "cover" that all dealerships are required to use when servicing the engine bay of an R8.
Audi is pulling out all stops with this one. Dealerships selling the R8 will be required to set aside 400 square ft. of showroom floorspace specifically for the R8. Can't wait for the T-Top.

Not sure if this thing will have a markup from dealers. The RS4 didnt...
vishnus11, no idea about any "cover". Im not really following this car too much. Just happen to run into the pics and thought i would share.

Not feeling it at all. I'm sure it will be a blast to drive, but i think that they should have let some lambo designers pen this car. It's rather boring looking, and that slab on the side is retarded.

the Vantage in Dark Silver/Grey, black interior and the Manual gearbox and im in heaven. Yes its more expensive and slower than the 911 but, damn is the the Vantage gorgeous!!!
