Anyone knows anyone that purchase 09 V8 Hyundai Genesis?
I've looked at several cars and considered the V8 Genesis. Has anyone here bought one or know anyone that bought one and how they felt after the purchase? Also there purchase price?

Thanks, I'm familiar with that site. I guess someone from the Acura fold would be affraid to admit they even looked at a Genesis, let alone, purchase one

^^^^^ No, not really true. Some of the 2G RL guys have test-driven the Genesis as it is a lux car aimed at folks who drive true lux cars. I don't know anyone who owns the Genesis 4.6 though.

Nice. The handling is probably better than stock with the lowering. The wheels are hot.

Well - went and sat in the Genesis today, they had a couple of V8's at the Mazda/Hyundai dealership. It's really nice inside and out. I love the front end, with the right set of wheels the car is

Well, my daughter bought the loaded v8 Genesis yesterday. She had been in the G35/37 corner for a long time but thought the Genesis offered more of what she was looking for.
I would also buy the Genesis if I were in the market for a car after driver hers for a good while today.

I just got my copy of Consumer Reports today. The Genesis is listed as their best choice.

It is an interesting package and if I were in the market for a car of that size it would be towards the top of my list to check out! I have to admit I was not a hyundai fan before this car, while I think they make good valued cars, they did not meet my expectations... in the same breath they were built as economy cars, the Genesis is different.
I don't like GM but I like the C6 vette and the CTS is growing on me, just because I am not a fan of a brand doesn't mean I wouldn't consider owning one of their cars.

I like what I see thus far but I'd like to drive one to really be able to consider it. The only thing scary about a Hyundai is resale value - this car will be $20K a year old. It'll make a nice used purchase.

Just like the 2G RL. No one disputes it's a great car.....what's disputed is whether it was worth paying $50k for. The market spoke, and....now the RL is a sleeper of a value in the used car market. You can now buy a 2G RL for $20k!!!!!!
My prediction is that the Genesis may end up the same way, given the economy.
And if the handling could be sharpened up by lowering the car a little and putting real rubber on, it'll be that much better. RWD + V8 + aftermarket handling with lowering springs=545i beater....for cheap.

Couldn't agree more. I think it'll be very interesting to see what they'll be going for in the near future...I hope they bring the prices of used 06 GS430's down

I'm actually surprised they're not selling more than the current rate. It's not exactly a bomb like the RL, but I was expecting better considering the bargain it really is.

How is the Genesis selling? Hyundai's marketing VP spills the beans
http://www.autoblog.com/2008/12/30/h...spills-the-be/
It's no secret that Hyundai's big push upmarket has come at a difficult time. With monthly sales plummeting and available loan capital shrinking, the Genesis sedan has seemingly picked an inopportune moment to roll onto America's bloodied dealership forecourts. In spite of this, the Korean automaker expects for sales to surge by 4 percent in 2009. Part of that increase will be on the back of inexpensive models like the new Elantra Touring, but the Genesis sedan will also have to carry some water for the automaker.
All of which has us wondering... how are sales of the Big Hyun going so far? Well, according to a new article by MediaPost, pretty darn well. The marketing publication interviewed the company's U.S. vice president of marketing, Joel Ewanick, and while he acknowledges the tough sales environment, he builds a pretty compelling case.
Among them: Over the past 90 days, the Genesis has sold "at or near objectives" and the company considers its performance to be "a very healthy launch." The sedan went on sale in July, and dealers have shifted 5,127 units thus far, including 1,151 last month. Ewanick notes that fully 90 percent of all Genesis buyers are originating outside of the brand, including 40 percent that "have traded in vehicles like Lexus, BMW, Mercedes, and Porsche." In addition, the Hyundai veep believes that the Genesis has helped contribute to brand-building, citing awareness and consideration figures that have jumped 25 percent in 2008 alone.
Judging by Ewanick's remarks, while the Genesis sedan may not be blowing out initial sales projections, it is performing solidly. Perhaps a down economy is exactly the right sandbox for the value-conscious Genesis to play in after all.

What I meant was that I was expecting it to sell like hotcakes, ie, out of supply, waiting lists, etc. Not just meeting or nearing the target objectives. Think Honda Fit.

Damn that looks pretty hot. Might have a hard time deciding a few years down the road between the 2G RL and the Genesis. Safety concern or crash rating for the Genesis?

Someday, an RS6 Avant+
If the picture posted were a different color, I think it would be
And the best way to buy it is an off-lease, maybe 2 years old. Those cars would be serviced, low mileage, and reasonably priced.
Doesn't PureAD work for Hyundai? He could comment on this?

My daughter has had her V8 Genesis for week. I have had a chance to drive during this time before she leaves to go home tomorrow.
Overall this Genesis offers a great driving experience. The ride and power is great, and so are the toys that comes in the tech package. I really like the auto directional headlights that follows your turning pattern. This car offers a lot for money when compare to others of similar size & equipment. Hyundai has a winner on there hands and will have another come April of this year when they offer a coupe version. Hyundai is fortunate to have small cars and small SUV's in there lineup like Honda. I feel like they will continue to do well and the Genesis will be the big car that can stay in there lineup.
5 Star crash rating
