anyone drove or rode in the new CTS-V
Has anyone rode or drove in the new CTS-V. I was on I-75 coming home and say a brand new one with temp tags on it. That thing looked stright PIMP. it was silver.
from what I read that thing has MAD power. they used basically a Z06 motor in that beast.
it's basically a Z06 with 4 doors.
I might be odd but I think the CTS styling hot.

About a month ago I got a chance to take a short drive and long ride in one. The car is a screamer ! Terrible shift action but I was impressed with how refined the Vette motor was. I owned a 2001 Vette 6spd for about 18months but couldn't live with the lack of refinement. Very fast car though.

The main syndrome of wheel hop is the fact that it kills acceleration times and it affects handling negatively. Imagine it. When your rear wheels hop...off the ground...this RWD car loses its ability to accelerate during that short moment. Of course that happens several times per second. It also is on 2 wheels during those short moments. Which means is handles dramatically less predictable. In other words, wheel hop is not good for performance vehicles and it shows when those vehicles try to perform (in general).

My Unedited Video of the CTS-V from the 2004 Chicago Auto Show
My comments of the above video back when the video was uploaded:
I have intentionally let this video go with the rep's presentation because it was interesting to see what GM wants to tell us. The market that is. And I knew something interesting would have been said when the rep started talking about the M3 and M5. The beginning of that talk, I missed, due to a tape change on the camcorder and really it was the bragging part.
The guy started saying something like "if you are in your brand new M3 or M5 and you see this Caddy on the road and think this thing's got one of those 6 cylinder engines in there and I can smoke it at any time...think again" Paraphrasing, but that was the gist of it. The last part of the quote you can still catch.
The car overall looks impressive mainly due to the front mesh grills. The rear is toned down. Kept more in line with the base car. I disagree but that's what they did. That's what the Germans do too I guess. Not enough separation between the base cars and the "tuned" cars (M, AMD, S, etc.)
Overall it looks great I believe. I am kind of disappointed at this car's performance. Several mags now report times in the low 5s for the 60 run. That's far from Caddy's claim of 4.6 secs. Half a second for the 60 is a huge margin. Someone is wrong and I dont think it's the mags. Mag racing but still...
I totally love the fact that there is only one option (sunroof). Like Acura, Cadillac makes it easy for one to buy this car without the hassles. The only thing that bothers me is the interior. Mostly the design of it and secondarily the quality of materials used. I hate the design. It looks like there was no design whatsoever, like they just tried to fit all the parts together. There is no flow, no continuity. Lutz promised a redesigned interior when the CTSV were out. I guess plans changed.

My friend got one about a month and a half ago. The car is finally broken in, so I got a feeling of what it can do. IMO the car is as fast as a stock C5. The highest G's indicated on the sensor was .97.
