Another new addition to the "garage"...

Another new addition to the "garage"...
Well, we pulled the trigger. I know I asked for advice in early Feb... and we got some GREAT suggestions. My wife and I discussed several of them seriously, but couldn't justify spending $15k-$20k for a car we really didn't want. Then we talked about buying something my wife has always wanted. Not the perfect highway vehicle, especially in our config, but still does the trick. She'll use if for her trips around NC, and when she goes to Atlanta she'll likely take my truck... so we still achieve the same goal we set out... but doing it this way we bought something we wanted, and something we'll use on weekends as well. So, that said... pics below....
It's a 2010 with about 16.5k miles...

this doesn't fit any of the categories in the suggestion thread
Definitely a nice ride. Now you two off road vehicles to have fun with.

So yeah, now we have two trucks. I may replace the FJ within a year or so... don't really need two of these type of vehicles. We'll see. No more purchases for a while... need to get the garage done

Congratulations JB Looks really good. We've actually wanted a 4 door Wrangler too since they first came out, a friend of ours has a black lifted one and we always whenever he comes over haha, what tranny did you guys go for? I drove the manual and actually did not like it..maybe because I'm used to driving stick in cars and not used to the super tall throws.

hahaha. I know... we went the complete opposite way. But like I said, we couldn't justify spending money on something we really didn't want whereas a Wrangler is something my wife has wanted, and we have talked about before.

Sweet ride! I've owned a CJ7 and a TJ over the years and will have another Jeep one day. Get ride of the huge plastic front bumper and put a Warn Rock Crawler and wench on the front, then an snorkel and it will be a total bad-ass JK.

I have a 2005 Jeep TJ Rubicon. It has been the hands down best vehicle I have ever owned. Mine has been beat on pretty hard and has never let me down. I will be buying a newer 2012+ 4dr when the time comes.
You really do need to get it off the pavement to enjoy it's full potential.
Enjoy!

Automatic. Wife doesn't drive manual... so wasn't really a decision. Ride is great. We wanted the 4-door originally too... but after driving the 2-door it felt so much more nimble... so we went with that instead. It's a 3rd vehicle... so we didn't need the space, so figured, why not? Two door it is!! The large tires took some getting used to... but after adjusting the air pressure we got it to a nice ride now. We may go for less aggressive tires since this thing will likely never see mud. Probably do an aggressive A/T tire so it's good for the highway, and if we do go off-road, can still handle it.
And very nice! I would love to have the unlimited model.
And do yourself a favor and take a weekend and find some trails...once you get a little off road action...even light/mid duty...you'll be hooked.

^Thanks all!!
Yeah, been reading about those tires. Also was reading about the Nitto Terra Grapplers which are slightly less aggressive then what we have. I'm actually going to swing by 4Wheel Off Road on the way home today. Curious what they have to say. But yeah, I'd love to take it off roading... even some light stuff. I think the wife would love it as well...

Congrats, that should be a lot of fun off-roading with.
A new colleague I discovered is really into off-roading and is from the south. He's in a local Virginia club that go on off-roading trips on weekends in rural area's. Sorta like motorcycling it's fun to do by yourself but also more fun in groups he said.

Looks like it would be a fun rig to do some 'wheelin in. Although it looks a little too nice to get it dirty.

Thanks all!!
Thanks! It will not be a regular road trip vehicle for my wife's business travels as originally intended. May take it to the beach or mountains a few times a year as it rides surprising well on the highway, but when my wife is traveling for work to Atlanta and around the Carolinas, she will take the FJ.
So we still accomplish what we were setting out to do... just have to do it slightly differently. No biggie though b/c I take the train in anyway, so on the days she has to travel she can take my FJ and I can take the Jeep or her car to the station, which is not far.
