Wise choice! I've had both a 1999 Manual Coupe and a 2002 Automatic Sedan. Both were great and fun to drive. The 6th gen Accords are awesome cars!

Thanks, folks. Hopefully I can keep this one for a long time.

Went out and got some more pics today. Mostly night pics, since there isn't much free daylight around here these days. I'm not a photographer by any means, but P&S pics are at least more descriptive than the one cell pic.

The fuzzy dice live on!

Car is on Koni Yellows and Neuspeed Race springs. I don't know what the drop is exactly, the springs supposedly are 2.2F/2.0R, but the shocks have two perches 20 mm apart. Fronts are on the lower perch, rears on the higher one. I might drop the rear in the spring (pun not intended), if I can get camber kits and figure out how to drive it with this big muffler hanging out the ass.

The exhaust surprisingly isn't loud at all. It's a custom-ish setup, 2.25" catback through the stock resonator and out the Remus muffler. I really like how it sounds, just a little burble on start-up and while accelerating, quiet on the highway and at idle. Aesthetically it's a little too big IMO, and I'm always mindful of it when going over speedbumps.

Car came with a CAI, not installed. PO was worried about snow hydrolocking it, which I don't think it is a real risk, so we slapped it on last weekend. Didn't have to remove the bumper thankfully. But I didn't get an attachment for where it meets the throttle body, so we had to go shopping for a 2.5" pipe fitting.

No one, no one sells a 2.5" pipe fitting locally here. There's 1.5, 2.5, and 3. So I got one with a 2 inch opening and went to town with a steak knife.

Made it fit!

And no, I can't be bothered to clean the engine bay. Under high RPM/WOT, the intake sound completely drowns out the exhaust. I like it, because at least most of the noise is coming from the engine compartment now, instead of out under the bumper.

Soo... yeah. That's my new beater.

Very nice Aman! One suggestion on the muffler. When it gets warmer out where you are I'd paint the muffler body black. It does look huge from the rear shot so painting it might help it blend in a bit better. REMUS exhaust products are very good quality. And yeah, clean that engine bay once it warms up too lol.

The tips may be the bigger problem. If you look at the picture below, from a more realistic eye level it's all you can see. But thanks for the tip (pun not intended)! I really like the exhaust though, so I'll put up with it.

And I really, honestly don't care about the engine bay. The car is old, and won't be winning and contests. As long as all the bolts turn, I'm happy.

We got 8 inches today, and she went through it like a champ. Just don't lift through some of the piled snow.

^ That's after more than 120 miles today.

Between the exhaust, suspension, and my driving position (hunched over the wheel with the gangsta lean), I feel like a typical Honda kid driving around.

Mileage update:

A little over 7800 miles in two months.

Things have been going all right. It's doing its job well (get me to school and back for cheap).

Between the better fuel economy, premium/regular price difference and the recent drop in oil, I'm paying less than half today in fuel than what I was in September driving the Passat. It's awesome.

There are a couple of typical old Honda problems. Warped rotors (or uneven pad wear, whatever), and a leaking clutch slave cylinder that I plan on replacing tomorrow. I also have a CEL for clogged EGR passage, which is easy enough to do.

The brakes are particularly annoying since they were new when I bought the car. Not entirely surprising though.

I also blackhoused the headlights about a month ago. Easy enough job, though I suspect that it's the first time the bumper has ever been removed. About 25% of the bolts/tabs holding the bumper survived. And finding out the headlights didn't fit in my oven sucked (I used a friend's). Otherwise, smooth.

This picture was taken literally right after a wash. Only the third day the car has ever been clean under my ownership. Winter sucks.

Butt, I am still happy now that I'm well into ownership. Next is summer wheels/tires, and maybe audio. The speakers flat-out suck compared to my VWs.

Nice to see the Mustang go through snow fine, Aman. Then again, these cars seem to do well in the Canadian climate as I see lots on the roads still up here.

Do you have winter tires, dude?

It is just funny that everywhere else in the world knows how to drive in snow with all season tires and when we get a little bit of snow in the mountain area in CA, everyone is freaking out... SNOW CHAIN Required everywhere....

if anything the snow chain made my drive more dangerous with half wet/snow and half dry pavement.

maybe try some hard 60-0 stops to clean the rotors off of any pad deposits on them?

Thanks, gents.

I do have winter tires on it. It doesn't handle the snow as good as my Jetta with winter tires did, but it's a million times better than the Passat on A/Ss. Decent, considering it's a RWD V8 (yes, it's the V8 model). This winter hasn't really been that bad though.

I have to start shopping for a summer setup. I want 17s so I can use the tires from my Jetta summers (damn near new), but it's tough to find anything in this car's bolt pattern. 5-lug swaps are common, but that's more $$. Means I need new 5-lug winter wheels as well.

I'll update tomorrow after the slave cylinder is hopefully replaced. Never done that before.

Instead of getting new tires, getting a new car is a much more logical alternative. It is a proven solution, ask anyone on this forum!

Nice car. I had that exact year Green , 4 cyl, AT. Mine had roll up windows, and manual locks. Great car. Bought at 60k miles, sold at 150k. Only issue was weak A/C in mine.

I also prefer the model with the red tails on the top, vs the older one with the red tails on the bottom.

Update

Approaching 147k miles now.

So... last we left off I said I was going to replace a leaky slave cylinder. What a pain in the testes that was. Long story short, my car was out of commission for almost a month, and the transmission had to be dropped. Live and learn, I guess.

I got new wheels:

They're GP Racing GR-4s. I hadn't heard of the company before, but they seem somewhat well-known locally. It wasn't easy finding wheels that fit both my car and my budget, so when I found these brand new, I jumped on it.

Tires are Hankook V12 Evos. They're actually the summer tires off my old Jetta. Only 5000 miles on them, so I'm hoping to not worry about tires for another couple of years.

The car is simply slow in a straight line, but with the suspension and tires, it's fun around corners. Once some odds and ends are taken care of, I want to go to a couple of autocross events and get more of a feel for how it behaves. The only time I've broken traction on the street is when hitting a bump around a corner. Otherwise, its grip level is higher than I'm comfortable exploring on the street.

Also put this guy on:

It's a Seibon hood I got with the car. The OEM one is now in my bedroom. I'm going to try and repaint it sometime this summer.

I like the bit of contrast it gives. Rather finicky to take care of, though. I had to polish off the water spots today. Going to have to pay a little closer attention to it than the rest of the car.

It flutters at highway speeds, too. When I put it on we adjusted it to sit flush with the fenders. But the flutter was too much, so I'm experimenting with the hood stops to find a compromise. You can see in the wheel picture and the following picture the right side sits a little higher. Hopefully I can find a way to minimize the gap and flutter.

The sun has finally made its way up here, so I can start driving with the windows down and enjoy the exhaust. I really like it. With the windows up, you can't hear it at all. Windows down it farts and burps when putting around town. Above 3000 rpm, it smooths out and fades into the background. I appreciate that it's just loud enough for me to hear it, and it doesn't bother anyone else.

As for what's next, I'm not sure. There are some mechanical bits that need addressing. I want to replace the drivetrain mounts, and it still needs a new cat. Then a subwoofer or two, and some component speakers.

Butt, I am satisfied with how the car looks, and trying to make it faster is a fruitless endeavor. So I'll drive this through my school years, and if I'm lucky a couple of years beyond. But when the next excuse for a new car comes along... something faster. Much faster.

If you are planning to keep the CF hood, then definitely get some hood pins. The last thing you want is your hood to fly open and smash your windshield at 80 mph.

To be honest, I was a little skeptical about how they would look. But I'm happy with how they turned out.

Yeah, you're absolutely right on the hood pins. It's not fluttering anymore, but I definitely have that on my list.

I washed the car yesterday, and while drying it:

The badge got caught my towel and popped off. I didn't really care about debadging it, guess the car had other intentions.
