Alpina bmw 3 series? e36

Okay on my day off I decided to go cruising to my friends house and on my way back I see this 3 series bmw (e36) and it has a ALPINA badge on the back w/ a big ass exhaust. so of course I go right next to it and give him a hard look and take off. Well we both gunn it at the next light and I beat this thing so bad I didn't even want to calculate car lenght. next light he catches up and then makes a left at the next light then gives me the thumbs up. but my question is what's Alpina? is it like dinan?

They are also a BMW tuner company just like Hartge, Dinan, and etc. Here you can check some of their works..

If you were able to beat him, that was just an Alpina badge. :o

Actually, the Alpina B33 3.3 (or whatever it's called... I just remember there were a lot of 3's in it ) is pretty slow... 0-60 in about 6 sec, if I remember right.

There's a Motorvision video clip floating around on the net somewhere. It compares the Alpina B3.3 to the new M3 to the Hartge 350ci (M5 motor in a 3 series ). Basically, the Alpina was way far behind the other 2.

Yea the alpina in that episode was junk. All it was was an alpina badge, different front bumper and interior accents. They even softened up the springs for a more luxurious ride.

I don't know why they just didn't flat out say that it sucked and they hated it?

A few days ago i passed a 318i with an Alpina badge, is there no shame ? Those badges are a dime a dozen.

Considering the number of dummied-up 323/325/328 running M3 badges, I think I'll ignore the "flash"..

BTW -- I had a bunch of stuff from Alpina on my Bimmer, and they make some serious engine stuff (among other things)...
