Almost got a Lexus RX350... So close...
Just have to rant a bit. Test drove a 07 RX350 with Nav and 18k miles. They wanted $32,900 which was a smoking deal. So, I get back after the test drive and we start the usual bullshit. Before I took the car out, I was told another guy was coming in to get the car. Yeah right! Well, there was another guy and he had already been in the day before, so he was ready to buy. I was given first dibbs since I was there first and I had bought fomr them before. In the end, I did not want to match the other guy's price as it was a good $2k over my offer.
Shoot!
Back to square 1.

You'll find one. Lots of good deals to be had.
My parents lease on their RX400h was coming up and since the hybrid is a "hot" car they got a great deal trading it in early for the all new RX350. They love it.

The way the current market is, there will be another deal. I don't think SUV's in particular are selling that well. That is a nice one, be patient and keep looking.

yeah, I know there will be other deals but this would have been pretty perfect as I htink they would have gone for the $21k or $21.5 difference...
still sucks the big one. Plus I will have to go in again and deal with another car salesman. Boy do they drive me crazy..

You can always find another car.
By the way, I don't know how's that is a good deal? One of my friends bought a fairly loaded RX350, brand new, in the high 30s. With the 2010 model already out, how is 32.5k a decent deal for one of these?

Patience is key, every time I've been in a similar situation and lost out on a killer deal something better has always turned up. Good luck with the search!

you know, it is a nice, smaller SUV and with the AWD, would be excellent when it snows here. It does not snow much, but my work entails driving in any condition...
my Plan B is to see if I can trade into a new fully loaded SE Camry. I saw the new TL and it was $39,500. Ouch!

Keep looking, my brother in NYC really wanted a used X5 4.8is and had several situations similar to your's but in the end wound up with a great used CPO'ed 2004 Cayenne Turbo for $38K.
Besides the RX and MDX, also may want to check out a used 4Runner or a new CRV. I've been in a friend's 3G CRV in the snow and it handles pretty well.

It's a ridiculous steal.
As good as an E class or 528i for ~$17k less.

The Dealer is still trying to find me another one. Problem is, they found another in black with 28k miles and want me to pay the same amount. I do not want to maintain black and I want one below 20k miles. I drive 20k + miles a year and need a low mileage car.
Will stay patient and keep looking.

LOL! You guys are brutal....
So, what does a car salesman make in commission. My salesman has called me like 5 times trying to sell me. I told him I wanted the same car at $20k + my car and he said he would work on it. The Closer called and he told me he wanted $22K+ and my car for the black one. I wanted to tell him to eff off, but I want them to find me a deal.
So, what does the saleman make?

Free enterprise = it probably changes from car to car. A flat $ amount within a range or a % of the profit per deal. Don't worry, whatever it is he will claim you are making him work for nothing. If they can't afford to do the deal, they just will not do it.
Everyone deserves a fair price and a fair commission. Problem is determining what's fair.
If you don't want to maintain it, why bargin on black?

on a used car it depends on how much he can get you to buy it for vs. how much the dealer has in it.

mr1..
I am not bargaining on te black. Told him I was not interested. The Salesman was OK with it. Then the Closer calls and tries to strong arm me. When I did not falter, he gave up. I feel so sorry for people who get worked over by the Salesman and Closers..

yeah! The whole time they were feeding me these lines, I was thinking 'yeah, right!'. Then towards the end, I look back and there was another guy sitting in the back. I guess they could have had anyone sitting back there. I kept wondering if they would call me on the next day and say the other's guys credit was no good and the car is available again.
