Congrats on the Z06. Ugh, now I miss mine :-( Have fun with that thing and be safe. As I'm sure you already know the amount of power is ridiculous.
Here is my '06 Machine Silver with comp gray wheels looking all purdy.

Transmissions being pulled today. Hoping it's anything but the clutch.

When my Vette wouldn't go in gear (mine wouldn't go in Reverse), it turned out to be the clutch. The stupid dealer thought it was the trans and put a new one in for me under warranty and it wasn't the problem. I didn't mind at the time because I got a free new trans out of it.
Welcome to owning a Vette. Hope you have some deep pockets.....

Yeah, it's already gonna be $1200 to diagnose it. My tax return just found a use.

You never heard of the "Corvette Tax"??
Rick, if your dependent on Tax return money to fix the car, this is NOT the car for you. Imagine you drop a valve......or any of the other 50000 expensive things that can go wrong on these cars does go wrong. Trust me, I know from a 7+ year experience these are not cars for the meek.....

I didn't say I was relying on my return to pay for it, I said it found a use. It wasn't a serious statement anyway given the smiley; how many jokes do people make about using their tax return to buy car parts? I'm well aware of the valve issue as well. It's been on my to-do list but this takes priority now.
Yeah, $1,200 to pull it and see what happened.

I barely missed the cut-off in my car and when I went to the dealer they kept giving me the run around. Then an influx of Mustangs started having their OEM clutches go at <5k miles and some Ford dealerships started doing repairs on goodwill. By that point, I was already $1,500 into a McLeod RXT.
Sorry for the tangent, have you done any research on aftermarket clutches, Rick?

Clutches and brakes have very finicky warranties, i.e. - 12 months/12k miles or so.

The McLeod is one I've seen highly recommended with a few owners. Seen the ZR1 clutch touted too, but it's not a direct fit to my knowledge, so I need to see what else is required.
All of this though, still hasn't put my mind at ease about the fluid leak in the rear. I'm beginning to think more & more, that her last owner ran the car heavily & I walked into his leftovers (which I accept on my own ignorance).

So shop called; they didn't say anything about the clutch.
However, it appears my problem may lay within the transmission bc the input shaft needs to be replaced. Said it was bent.
Ill know more details when I go tomorrow morning as they want to file a claim for a new transmission. Will update then.

Adjuster is on his way out this week. They think I have a pretty good policy to cover this, so if all goes well, I'll only be out my deductible. Transmission is 4 days out, couple other parts are 2 days.

Lol Andrew.
If I were you, I would do the clutch while the trans is out under someone elses labor tab. You will thank me if you plan to keep your Vette. Mantic 9000 TD Clutch is the sh*t, love it.
BTW not sure if you understand the Vette geometry, but the shaft goes from the trans into the rear diff. If you shaft is bent, your rear diff could be fucked too (may explain your leak). Your torque tube is anterior and could have an interior bent too. Fix it all under warranty.
The day I help Rick TLS, never thought it would come. Lol.

Shop advised waiting for the adjuster first.

The Mantic is a better clutch. Supports up to 1000 wtq as well and my sister can launch my Vette. Lmao
Oh, and I hope you really meant that second part, because I haven't seen anything suggesting what you claim.

How-to-guide on fitting the ZR1 clutch to a Z06 using Lingenfelter's kit.
If you want increased holding power without the leg workout, rattle, chatter or that on/off sensation, the only foolproof solution is to use Lingenfelter’s ZR1 Twin Disc Clutch Kit (PN L360020105). The folks at Lingenfelter Performance Engineering reverse-engineered the ZR1’s clutch for use on other platforms, starting with a billet steel flywheel that is made to OEM spec, but with the more common 6-bolt flange. Thankfully C6 Corvette owners only have to bolt up this flywheel, along with the OEM ZR1 twin disc pressure plate assembly, clutch discs and bolts as well as a ZR1 clutch slave cylinder. Camaro applications need an additional spacer for proper clutch engagement.

All I was telling Rick is don't be fooled by the "Katech LS9X" Clutch which is just a base C6 and Z06 Clutch Kit you "think" is an LS9 clutch but not (i.e. does not fit the ZR1, yet has the name).
Honestly Rick, I doubt your going to go through the trouble/cost of getting a true ZR1 clutch to fit on your stock power Z06 which does not have "no lift shift" (which makes the ZR1 clutch truly superior) and apparently has "no" clutch issues.

That's the 2nd time you've attempted to make some allusion towards specific someone in my life. I've kept my insults aimed squarely at you...you want to see when I get dirty?

I told you I was done squabbling with you, but you seem intent on wanting to relight the sparks by your "can't believe I'm helping this guy" attitude. Feel free to not comment then; you're not the only member with valuable advice on my car.

Figured I'd give an update since the car should be ready Friday sometime after being here for 3 weeks now.
- Warranty covered everything on the transmission. Took last week to have the new transmission/torque shaft ordered from GM.
- Tech found the car has a brand new Z06 clutch in it, but whoever did the work failed to add new hydraulic fluid. I was a bit peeved considering I specifically asked if the car had fresh fluid through out when I bought her and was told yes. But, that's their word against mine months later, so I accept the ignorance on my part. Shop went with some new Redline fluid over GM for best results.
- They were pretty concerned over how the last clutch install was handled by the last owner; cited some shoddy looking work.
- Was told 2 clutch sensors would need to be replaced. However, tech said GM delivered everything they needed.
- Asked the tech to go over the car to spot any additional areas of concern. He found the passenger motor mount was broke & the rear axle was replaced by a low quality one. Suggested some urethane mounts, said let's do it.
- Axle-wise, they had taken the rear axle out of another customer's Z06 who had upgraded to a beefier setup. Tech told me it only had 20,000 miles on it & they wanted $200. Green lit that as well since it wouldn't cost me any labor with the car still apart.
- Best news was the tech telling me the car has had the motor out and per his words, "had some badass head work" done, but surprised at "no cam/headers". I believe he said AHP did the heads over the phone.
Other than that, he says the car is fine & should be finishing up either tomorrow or early Friday. I'm very anxious to not only have her back, but see how she feels to drive now. All that should be left is the headlight recall & addressing the steering wheel being just slightly off center. After that, with now no need to address the heads, I'm thinking it's time to start shopping for an exhaust setup.
