Advan Tires

What's so special about them? It seems that they're super special overseas. Is it hype or is it something else?

In addition to the part just mentioned about the Evo, the Elise gets them if you opt for the Sport Package. They're sticky R-compound tires that have a fine 65 Treadwear rating. My Yokos have a 500.

How are they better? Long treadwear time? Grip better in rain? (I know that it's dependent upon specific tire application but..)

The "US-Spec" A048's have a 60 treadwear rating which is just about as sticky as you can get. I doubt the JDM-spec is "way better".
