Added a few new vehicles to the family…. Warning this is going to be a long post….
 

It’s been a crazy 3 months but everything is starting to settle down. Sold a house, bought a house, moved and of course had construction work snowball (as usual).Anyway first up at the end of Nov my oldest son turned in his Q50S three months early and picked up a 2019 Q50S Red Sport. Just for the record he put 38k miles on the 2015 Q50S in almost 3 yrs and aside from two software updates the car was rock solid. He hated to see it go until he drove the RS.. Since taking delivery he’s added a few spoilers, wrapped the trim and added the Infiniti Performance Exhaust which sounds awesome.

Next it was my youngest sons turn for a car and since I had helped his brothers get their first cars in the past it was his turn… He wanted an Acura but we looked at several cars anyway, but in the end he picked up a 13K mile 2016 CPO TLX, I wanted to get him the SHAWD but my service advisor suggested that the safer bet was going with the 8spd. I’ve never driven the 4 cylinder before and was actually surprised how well it moved.. He’s happy so that’s all that matters, plus having ties to the GM, Business Manager and my SA for over 12 yrs is not a bad thing should we run into any issues.

And finally with the move I knew I was going to have to get myself a daily driver. So after a lot of research and test drives I decided on a 9.5K mile 2018 CPO Audi allroad.. I’ve always liked the allroads and when this one popped up at my dealer (which is rare) I had to drive it….. I can’t explain it, but for those of you that have driven, or currently drive an Audi there is just something about how it feels that keeps pulling me in. Initially my biggest concern was reliability since I bought this one and plan to drive the wheels off of it. But IME these Audi’s are not the Audi’s of years ago as our Q7 has proven in the year and a half we’ve had it. I really like the way the allroad feels but that Q7 is on another level. I love that truck, maybe I’ll switch vehicles with my wife…Hopefully she doesn’t read this.. LOL

^Thanks.. Going to stick with All Seasons for now since they're like new.. May pick up a set of winter wheels/tire after the summer, or sooner if a deal is to good to pass up....

That is a long post but a good one. Congrats on all the new rides. The RS looks amazing in that color. Love the allroad as well. It needs some mesh wheels though.

Thanks... Yeah the color on the RS is incredible but those pics don't really show it well.. There is a ton of flake in it that when in the sun makes it pop.. I'll have to have him send me a few pics and I'll post them..

Are you talking about the Audi OEM mesh or a "BBS" type mesh wheel?? If I was to change the wheels in the future I may do something like these Hartmanns for the summer and use the OEM's with winter tires.

Here's a fun fact, the black wheel arches on the allroad aren't plastic, they're actually painted matte black.. So they recommend you don't use any polish, wax or detail sprays on them.. So after doing some research I bought some McKee's 37 matte paint cleaner and protectant.. Even after I washed the allroad I was amazed with how much dirt this product pulled off those wheel arches...

No snows for me thanks... With all the work I have going on in the house she is tucked out of the way..

I was thinking some BBS mesh wheels or maybe if you want a little more budget friendly some VMR wheels. Avant Garde and Linea Corsa makes some as well. The Linea Corsa wheels are very budget friendly I think I paid liek $800 for a set of 4 19s for my ISF that I put my winter tires on back then.

Congratulations and the Allroad is a solid vehicle. My parents have put 80k+ on their 2014 and it has been flawless for them. I love it too.

The RS looks great and fantastic color. As for younger son, hope the TLX lasts a long time. No interest in looking at a loaded Accord?

My mistake it is actually Linea Corse.

We looked at the Accord, not loaded but nicely equipped, but he preferred the Acura..

Congrats on the new house and vehicles! Question. Did your son get the muffler delete option on the performance exhaust? The reason I ask is because I'm saving up for the sport exhaust (should have it by March) and despite watching numerous clips on YouTube I can't quite make out if the muffler delete may be too loud. Or did he get the muffled sport exhaust, which I think sounds good as well, but again I'm listening through computer speakers. Ultimately, before I decide I'm going to ring my Service Advisor and have him let me know when a Q50 / Q60 comes in for a service so that I can hear it live.

No muffler delete, this is his daily so he only did the sport axle backs more for sound than anything else. IMO now it sounds like a baby GTR when he gets on it... Below is the link to them

I was telling my son yesterday that the more I drive the allroad the more I like it, the 7spd DCT is a great tranny in both regular mode and sport..

Do it..... I love the Q7, have it approx 1-1/2 years and 13k miles and one of, it not the best vehicle I've ever owned...The way it moves for a 5,100 lbs suv when in dynamic mode is crazy...

I just got last Saturday the new CTS-V (I love the CTS-V coupe pic in your avatar)...I'm loving every minute of it....it is really a totally different GM than 15 years ago LOL
I traded in a 2014 Q50S AWD...mine has been rock solid too but I found it a bit too boring.....the new Red Sport is much better...

When I got my car, it was neck and neck between it and the Q50 Red Sport. Don't get me wrong, the thing looked beautiful and it drove nice. But it felt like I was driving a 'faster' version of my wife's G37.

That and both her and I liked the MB better so we went with it.

But we were damn close to getting the Q50 Red Sport.

Best of luck, shes a beauty...I would love to have one of those, but need to win the lottery first before adding another vehicle... Pictures don't show how menacing that car looks on the road... There are several of us here on AZ that own V's, you'll be shocked how much the CTS-V's are discussed on here.. Congrat's again..:thumbsup:

Thanks, yeah my V has turned into an obsession, maybe too much.. I have her 5-1/2 yrs now and admittedly I baby her too much but don't see myself stopping anytime soon.. And with the move I barely drove her this summer and fall.. Last time I drove her was over a month ago to move her from one garage to another. She's been sitting her since, as soon as we get a little more organized and the weather agrees I have to take her out..

I always loved the CTS, one of the most distinctive sedan on the road (together with the 4G TL, some may disagree but, whatever, it's my opinion) so I did finally pull the trigger on one....there were literally no other sedans that interested me other than the RS7 (the only German I did like, the others did become either too isolated in their ride and/or too odd looking, the E Class for example) and, saving quite a bit of money, the Charger SRT (either 392 or Hellcat) an outstanding sport sedan for the money but, at the end of the day, was a bit too unrefined compared to this....

I briefly also considered the Maserati Ghibli S Q4 but, despite the heavy discounts, that car cost too much money for what it brings to the table, the V or the RS7 are in an entire different class performance wise. Fit and finish, despite looking good at first glance, had quite few serious flaws hard to digest in that price segment, depreciation is truly horrendous and reliability very iffy.

My wife did prefer the RS7 almost until the end but eventually, several road tests later, the Caddy won her over.

You put the V and RS7 in the same class? They are in two different class entirely in my opinion. If the RS7 was on your radar I would think it would beat out the V every day. The interior alone is in another league and so is the acceleration.

Probably you never set foot on a V let alone driving one.....please do not get offended but is the only conclusion I can come up with....maybe you are confused with the V-Sport....this is a real V, the LT4 powered one....

The interior of the V in many aspects is superior to the RS7, at least the RS7s I drove.....I came across one in particular where the headliner was still the same fabric you find on a 30K Accord...heck even Hyundai with the Genesis switched to standard suede in the segment.

The RS7 is a tremendously capable super sedan and the AWD advantage is something that made me think long and hard about getting the V.....but at the first curve you immediately realize what is the most fun car to drive, no context...the RS7 has a stubborn understeer that is always there even with the Torque Vectoring differential.

The magnetic ride of the V is like a magic carpet ride, no RS7 setting beat the comfort of a V in tour mode.

You can't really go by my V since it's a garage queen, I mean I bought it new over 5 years ago and it only has right around 15Kmiles on it....But in the 5 yrs the only issue was the supercharger rattle which is common to the LSA, so GM issued a TSB after many years of owners complaining. So I had the supercharger replaced under warranty.

Oh yeah, and the switch for the drivers side heated Recaro crapped out and that was replaced.. That's it...

Yes, I heard about the rattle issue on the supercharger up to the model year 2016 but I believe that issue has been fixed for good hopefully.

The CTS-V Coupe is fantastic, I wish GM made it again...well I guess there is the Camaro ZL1 which is an out of this world car for the money...I briefly considered one but it imposes way too many compromises....in particular, trunk access is horrific...however I was surprised how comfortable the ZL1 is (riding in the front obviously LOL), that Magnetic Ride suspension is something else.

According to that thread he owns a previous generation V which, while being a very nice car, it was not comparable with the current generation, dynamically and especially in fit and finish.

First off I figured you were comparing the Gen2 V to the RS7 considering you were commenting about one in this thread. I own a Gen2 V and the interior is a long shot from great let me tell you. If you are comparing the Gen3 V with the LT4 then yes that is a much closer car to the RS7. I have only sat in one have not driven one. The interior of them is close to that of Audi but the German brand still holds on for the win.

I don't doubt the Gen3 V probably handles really good. My Gen2 V handles great. The Gen3 V might have more HP but the AWD in the RS7 still gives it a .3 second quicker 0-60 even though the RS7 weighs 300lbs more :O I have a fair amount of experience driving an RS7 for the last 3 years as my father owns one.

I am probably looking for different things in a super sedan than you cause although comfort is important for sure I prefer handling over comfort if I must give one up. So not having a comfort setting to equal the V ride would not bother me. Honestly I wish my V had a more firm option when I put it in sport mode than it does currently. I wish sport was the tour and then the current sport was even stiffer. To me that would be the perfect suspension for a super sedan. If you don't want it as stiff then get an S7 would be my thought. The RS series of Audi to me are about pure performance without compromise. I am not saying the Gen3 V is not a great car I am sure it is. I really wish they had made a wagon version of it like the Gen2 cause the exterior and interior are beautiful. I just still don't believe the materials in a GM product are up to part with the Germans but that is my opinion and you have yours.

That was the biggest shock to me...the vaunted Audi interiors....very disappointing, again one of the RS7 with a fabric headliner speak for itself....now, the new E63 AMG has truly sumptuous interiors but way too baroque in style for my taste...

We are talking about cars in the mid 3s 0-60 times...especially with the CTS-V (RWD only), get a launch wrong and you get spanked by way less powerful cars in the very short run.....surely the RS7 is easier to launch and to get great times but they have been people getting low 3s with a perfect launch and good tires on stock Gen. 3 Vs....and when you get into the twisties, the CTS-V truly shines

That is exactly what made me fell in love with the V......how comfortable is in tour mode and how sharp and fun to drive is in Sport and Track mode.....so it is able to be a more comfortable cruiser compared to the RS7 and a more fun, focused machine in the right setting.....I drove extensively the RS7 before the V...so the Audi put already a big grin on my face but the V was significantly better...test one if you get a chance.

It was hard for me to believe as well but I saw it with my own eyes....the V is gorgeous inside (quite improved over an off lease MY 2016 that I had the chance to drive) and well finished, the CUE system is finally very good....not saying that it is better then all the Germans (as I said already, the E63 is definitely more luxurious but the styling left me cold) but definitely is ahead of all the RS7 I sat in....as you said, in my opinion....
