Acura to Subaru & Audi
Long story short, I'm coming from a 2008 TLS & wifey from a 2006 TSX.

When the wifey test drove the S3, she fell in love with it. Happy wife, happy life. The Lexus IS 350 F Sport was close but the Nike emblem kinda turned her off. She tried the ILX but she thought it was a downgrade from the 2006 TSX.

Also, not sure where you're getting your times, but the Audi S3 is a 4.4 0-60. So it's not close.

5-60 was initially published by Car&Driver and then used by other publications, as a better representation of real-life. 0-60 in 4.4s is a fraud unless you are prepared to constantly abuse the powertrain.

+1 on who has the more refined taste in your family (LOL) !!
Admittedly I'm biased: just last week I pulled the trigger on the purchase of a low-mileage 2015 Audi A5 2.0T coupe (to arrive here any day now) as a step forward-in-time from the stock 2003 Acura 3.2CL-S 6MT that's been my daily driver for the past 11 years. It will be sad saying goodbye to the 6-speed CL-S because it's been such a great driver's car, but the deal on the A5 I found was too just good to pass up.... I'd been looking at both the 4-cyl A5 and the 6-cyl S5 Audi 2-doors for a couple of months, not really in any hurry, and meanwhile half of me was thinking, should I just have the 14-year old CL-S professionally repainted instead(?) ... but that would've meant being without wheels for 3- or 4-weeks.
No regrets on your wife's part, I trust ?
Best wishes to both of you !

Don't listen to Saintor. He has an absolute hate for turbo engines. Just looking into it, the S3 puts out a bit more horsepower (290@6200 vs 306@5600rpm) and more torque (267@4500rpm vs 295 @2000-5400rpm).. Yes, that's right Saintor. The S3 delivers more power, earlier in the power band, in both respects, as compared to the TLX, but the car itself is also a couple hundred pounds lighter, helping it hit 0-60 even faster,
car and driver got 4.4s 0-60. You can call that "beating the shit out of the drive train and power train", but that's what these guys do... For ALL cars.

The WRX is a beautiful car also. I remember when people cried foul when they released the current gen, complaining it didn't look enough like the concept. Personally, I think people were just expecting waaaaay too much and I do really like the car they did end up releasing. I think the body looks fantastic.

Good timing to have the WRX, best snow season in Northern Cali thus far. Just make sure you have snow tires.

Congratulations on both vehicles! They are both beautiful and amazing! At one point, I wanted a 2013 S4, I test drove a S4 Prestige 6MT, it was fun to drive and the AWD system was amazing! My wife looked into the S3, but was too small for her. She had a thing for an ML63 2012+, we saw and test drove 15 of them, super fun SUV with insane power, but overall a bit overkill for us. Now she wants to drive the C43 and the GLE43. I wouldn't pull the trigger on either one til they come down on prices. Keep me posted on the real world impression's on the S3, I still have <3 for them.

S3 looks awesome. The WRX was on my shortlist, but I ended up with a 17 Accord Sport. Couldn't pass up the styling, fuel economy, price and 0.9 financing.
Just turned 1700 miles and my to/from work is highway so I'm more comfortable to wring it out a little bit (they say 600 mile break in period, but I waited a bit longer).... I'm pleasantly surprised and extremely satisfied with that little 4 banger and CVT. Highway passing is more than adequate (don't get me wrong, it's no TL) but an additional 25-35hp would be nice.... however, 325 miles per tank is pretty impressive too (mixed driving, ECON off).
Tint, LED headlight bulbs and I'm set. Constant compliments on the car, especially the wheels.
Good of luck with both new rides.... can't go wrong with either!

WRX, wanted a car that I can had enough power, handle off roads and battle the elements. Thought about a truck but I'm not at that phase yet in my life. Will see down the road.
The Accord is nice too but if only my travels was a less harsh. Everyone has different needs.

Congrats to the OP, we have a manual WRX in the family and it is a very sweet little machine indeed, great value for the money for a little sport sedan.

Thank you for posting this. It's the same exact results I found as well. Understand where it's coming from. Saintor isn't a real enthusiast, nor does he understand what performance is, let alone that there are vehicles other than the TLX ( & Acura) on the road.
Still very impressive numbers for the S3. APR already has performance modifications for the S3. That's the best thing about most German vehicles, there are companies out there that can push these vehicles to the limit, without spending a ton of money.
Here is the link to APR Products for the S3
