Acura in Star Trek
So I was watching the trailer for the upcoming flick, and then I thought, "Ohhh yeah.. the Star Trek symbol looks like Acura's... (no wonder it looks strangely familiar)". then it hit me: Acura should totally put some of their vehicles OR even work with the Star Trek franchise in "designing" some prototypes for them.
The idea is simple, anyone whose seen IRobot or Minority Report (or Iron Man, Black Knight etc etc the list is endless) can remember the scenes where other makes showcase some of their prototypes on the big screen. Even if they were for fun, some turned out eerily similar to what was actually produced [Think IRobots' Audi's vs the real life production model of the R8]. I mean, wouldn't this be a great exercise for Acura's designers planning the next models? (What's already on the roads is already on the roads. Stop crying about firing the team or expecting Acura to change anything, it's done guys get over it).
It's pretty obvious that they share a lot of similarities:
1. Both are supposed to be TECHNOLOGICALLY savvy
2. Both are trying to appeal to the newer generation of buyers / young professionals
3. Both have almost too similar LOGOS
4. Acura cars are already TOO advanced for the streets (here you go, for those that don't like the grill)
I mean... just think of the benefits right?
1. Great publicity for Acura - think of the branding value
2. More money for the Star Trek franchise / Paramount?
3. Corporate connections, I mean if you're going to be sponsoring W hotels and working with them, how hard is it to provide some vehicles for use by the film team?
Am I the only one that sees this as something of great potential or what? Yeah I know, the movie is already out it's too late to adapt anything into this flick but talks are already generating, talking about Star Trek coming back as a revived franchise geared towards the next generation of viewers (no pun intended). Believe me when I say that it would be EXTREMELY STUPID of Paramount Pictures to not capitalize on their newly revived franchise, and not film more movies with the guru of (viral) marketing, J. J. Abrams. Granted, films not even out yet but ANYONE with any connections to Acura should seriously consider advising them on getting into the ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY, worked wonders for Audi and Lexus. It's time to stop sponsoring golf tournaments, sailing teams, or tennis matches...
