Acura DNX, Infinity M45! and Infinity G35 COUPE!
So now we know that the 3.5 liter iVtec in the DNX makes 300 HP
ACURA DN-X GOES HYBRID-LUX
The same technology that brings high fuel efficiency to the Honda Insight and Civic might bring 400 hp and all-wheel drive to a future Acura luxury sedan, the brand said on Thursday. The DN-X concept, a high-end, aluminum-bodied concept that bristles with technology, is a mid-engined design powered by both a 300-hp, 3.5-liter V-6 engine and a 100-hp electric motor. Together the powertrain could achieve 42 mpg, Honda says. A clutchless six-speed manual gearbox, Vehicle Stability Assist and Active Torque Transfer System, and four bucket seats round out the concept.
INFINITI DEBUTS G35 COUPE, M45
The G35 coupe, meanwhile, looks every bit the more refined version of the Nissan 350Z that it is. The coupe, sharing the same FM platform as the G35 four-door, also carries Nissan’s omnipresent 3.5-liter V-6, making more than 275 hp in this application. A six-speed manual gearbox will be shared with the sedan, too, while a five-speed automatic will be available. The 2+2, riding on the same wheelbase but four inches shorter and 2.5 inches wider than the G35 sedan, comes with VDC and 17-inch wheels, as well as an eight-speaker Bose sound system and a retractable DVD-based navigation system. Both the M45 and G35 coupe will offer either XM or Sirius digital radio service hardware as options, as well as Infiniti’s version of the Wingcast telematics service set for launch this fall.
Twin New York debuts from Nissan’s upscale Infiniti division will add a new sedan and coupe to the luxury marque. The M45 recalls one of the first Infinitis, the M30 — only this time the letter designation applies to a luxury four-door based on the Japanese-market Nissan Cedric. Looking very much like the last Q45, the M45 sports the same 340-hp, 4.5-liter V-8 as the current Q, as well as a five-speed automatic and Vehicle Dynamic Control. A Bose seven-speaker stereo, DVD-based navigation and intelligent cruise control are standard on the 5-Series/E-Class intender, which goes on sale in November for a price in the low $40,000 range.
One question:
HOW CAN ACURA PRETEND THEY HAVE AN ANSWER TO THE G35 COUPE WITH THE 2003 CL TYPES 6 SPEED? IT'S A SIN.

For the G35 coupe, I am going to test drive the car before I could make any decisions. If I like the speed and looks in person, say hello to my new ride. Only problem is the winter season, when it snows, the car will be fish tailing.

i'd LOVE to see Honda actually PRODUCE that DNX. 42 MPG and 400 horses would get SOOOO many buyers it not even funny providing it isnt god awfully UGLY or Pricey.
The G35 coupe is incredible. see my post on the G35 Coupe thread.
Infinty and Nissan are on a roll, but i would hate for them to throw away an incredible car like the Q45 for the M45. the engine is spectacular but the M45's front end is questionable. (crossing my fingers) with the new E class and this M45 the new 5 series better be good (and an upgraded 8 pot and 6 pot wouldnt hurt 545i 535i maybe?)
if Acura is in anyway playing with the idea of having "Type-S" begin to sound like "M" they need BIG horsepower (more than 300), an 8 cylinder somewhere in the family, and a Le Mans racing team.

After all they will most likely have to keep the manual tranny if they want a rep like the //M a power bump and a FR or AWD would go a long way as well.

Acura will have to do something in 04 with the CL if they want to get sales back up, not going to happen in its current form against cars like the G35 coupe.
The G35 is RWD, 275hp on tap (I'm sure there will be plenty of aftermarket), 6spd, 18's available, optional aerokit and Brembo's.....and is amazing looking without a thing done to it.

For 04 I dont expect anything new for the CLS. Maybe a 10HP bump or something like that. The car will look the same though. Watch.
I think what is gonna happen is that 04 will be the last year for the CL as we know it. There will be a whole new sports coupe that will come out from Acura which will resemble the RX8-G35 Coupe and it will be RWD based on the new NSX/RL platform. The TL and MDX will continue being the bread and butter for Acura and they will continue getting all the attention.
