Across Paris In 7'52 By Car - This Is Nuts!
Found this on another forum of mine, pretty fucking awesome:
This movie was made in 1976 by Oscar-winning French director Claude Lelouch. While there is some rumour that the driver might have been Formula One drivers Jacques Lafitte or Jacky Ickx, it is rather certain today that Lelouch himself was driving the car.
The sound of below video is not authentic. Lelouch was driving a Mercedes 450 SEL 6.9. It took him 7m 52s from the tunnel exit at Porte Dauphine to the stairs at Sacre Coeur. He had mounted a camera to the front bumper, "to use 10 minutes of remaining film" after finishing the movie 'If I Had to Do It All Over Again' (Si c'était ŕ refaire).
For those who speak German, here is a story from Spiegel Online. There is also a "Making of..." video available on YouTube.
I would like to point out that I would agree to anybody saying that this guy is apparently a dangerous lunatic who would probably better be locked away.
But, especially having played the video game "Midnight Club II", I have to admit that this video is also somewhat fascinating to me, in a probably mad and wrong way.
Enjoy (or hate it, just as you prefer):

Wow, fun vid. If that was a 450 SEL 6.9, it was one with a VERY modified suspension. A stock suspended car would have had enough body roll to make the camera look sideways on 90 degree turns.
Agree that it was probably the director driving, no way Lafitte or Ickx would do a stunt like that.
