Accord - Scraping in steering wheel after airbag recall
I wondered if anyone had heard of this or had any ideas. My parents took their 2002 Accord to have the airbag recall done. Afterwards, there is a scraping sound in a few places when turning the steering wheel. I think I may have felt some resistance, too, but it was very slight if any. They'll take it back, but is it likely they did not reseat the airbag correctly, leave something in there, something else? My mom asked if it is safe to drive in the meantime. My guess is that it is, but I'm not sure.

First off, take it back.
For safety of driving, you should be able to take a flashlight and look between the steering wheel and the column plastic cover to see if anything is touching. My concern would be something may be loose and if it comes completely out it may get jammed locking the wheel. I would drive it straight to the dealer if its not a long distance. |
Thanks. The car was taken back. The post recall repair took much longer, but they said it was a clip.

Could be something minor.
I had a scraping sound that was coming from the steering wheel in my Speed 6. Turned out it was label on the back of the steering wheel was coming loose/off. |
