Cool. $65K is a bit steep though. I thought it was cool that you could just put the VR6 engine in the thing but not for $9800. I mean, it's not gonna be fast enough for $9800. Especially considering it'll probably barely be faster than a 1.8T. I think VW should have the VR6 as an option for a couple grand more.

At the Import Drags last weekend, there was a guy that had the 1.8T in his Beetle and some minor mods. He was running low 8's in the 1/8th which I would guess to be high 12's-low 13's in the 1/4. It was awesome to see him put down a new supercharged Saleen Mustang.

No more scratches thanks to the dumbass who walked on my car and had to pay to have it repainted.

But OTOH, if I was tooling around in a brand-spanking-new 911, I'm not sure I'd feel like I have anything to prove anyways. I'd be hard-pressed to even bat an eye at Truckstangs, El Camarons, and Quaaludes revving on me at a street corner. An E46 M3, Z06, or 911 is the complete package that says everything even standing still. Smoke-and-fury Super Beetle is and is always going to remain a bug.
Anyways, IMHO. I believe something like that will just about always remain in the realm of the tuner one-off image car, since just about no real consumer will ever justify spending that amount of money to actually go through with the whole kit-and-caboodle. It does, however, bolster the image of a tuner as being "the real thing," which ultimately does wonders in selling his truly consumer-intended goods.
For example, both Tom's and HKS sells good stuff, but even slapping their entire catalogue of goodies on one's car will not bring it to the level of their show cars. So obviously, developing the mega show cars have little to do with product engineering. But notice how people who talk about/sell Tom's/HKS products eventually bring up the the HKS Skyine or Tom's-Castrol Supra, as if that had any real bearing to the engineering of their consumer products.
But yeah, it is kinda cool. I'd be the first under it if somebody put it on a lift.

seriously? $65k? if its $30k then its awesome. at $65k, get a good looking car. a viper will beat it. although my esprit won't beat it nor will a stock nsx, but who cares. nsx, viper, esprit, etc. rock. or save up yo money and buy the suninternational elise or wait for a federal version from lotus... which hopefully will come in a year or two.
